Mac EA app - "The app crashed unexpectedly" or "Background Services Crashed"

Timestamp when the issue first occurred (date/time): Tuesday May 14

When does the error occur (opening the EA app, starting a game via the EA app, or during gameplay?): Can't even get the EA App to open. Same issues as others have described, I was forced to get the EA App when I tried opening Sims 4 in Origin, but now I can't play at all. I'm getting the same "The EA App Crashed Unexpectedly" error. I tried reinstalling the EA App 3 times and nothing works.
