Forum Discussion
Hello everyone,
Thank you for continuing to report the "The app crashed unexpectedly" and "Background Services Crashed" errors on the EA app for Mac.
We've heard from some players that updating your Mac to the latest macOS version, including incremental updates, can resolve the issue. Additionally, some users have found that a simple restart of their machine helps.
Updating the client
For those still experiencing the problem after trying these solutions, we've released a new version of the EA app for Mac (13.206) that will hopefully address the issue. The EA app periodically automatically checks for updates and will install this version when you next launch the client. However, if the EA app won't boot, you can download the latest version directly from https://www.ea.com/ea-app.
We will also be releasing additional fixes in the coming weeks.
Still experiencing the issue?
Please let us know how things go after trying these steps. If the issue persists, check the first post on page 1 of this thread and continue to provide the requested data.
Thank you.
Posting an update as I was one of the original reporters of this issue for Mac: The EA app now works for me and I'm finally able to play Sims4 again!
Here's what I did:
1) Deleted the EA app from my applications and emptied the trash
2) Restarted my computer (idk if this was necessary but can't hurt)
3) Downloaded the latest EA app release for Mac (13.206) from the link posted by the community manager a few days ago: https://www.ea.com/ea-app
4) Opened the installer and dragged the EA app into applications when it instructed me to do so
5) EA app successfully opened for the first time without crashing – hallelujah! All of my game progress was still in tact.
Thank you for posting this solution as it did work for me. Hoping it works for others too, though it sounds like people are still encountering issues with this new release.
