I have the same problem, and I can't solve it with support, as all the solutions are terrible!
The game doesn't download giving me the error message:
There was a problem with the download.
Something went wrong during the download. Wait a couple of minutes and try again.

Then I installed the game via the installation CD. Once the application is launched, the game is recognized, but if I try to launch it I get another error:
Unable to start the game.
An error on our part prevented the launch. Try later.

I tried to repair the installation, but without success, this error message appears:
the installer has encountered an unexpected error. The error code is 1638

I tried installing Origin, an older version, but it won't install. From installation error....
I want to point out that Windows 11 is new just installed and updated.

I stumbled across your post after tryna get mirror's edge to install similarly. I see nobody has answered your post for 2 years. I bought it yonks ago from Origin before it morphed into the EA App. Perhaps here's why: For the longest time it simply would not download from the EA store but I tried it today on a whim and with no fanfare it appears EA just somehow resolved this problem and I proceeded to download the game.
Then similarly got the msg Unable to start the game.
An error on our part prevented the launch. Try later.Obviously this sage advice will have you waiting for a very long time. Nobody is really watching in spite of fears of a space age surveillance society. So after going 'googly' I found https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Mirror%27s_Edge Ok so this may contain info that could solve your problem.
If you can get hold of 'mirror's edge tweaks' you can set the start resolution to 1080p which 'sometimes' fixes the non starter for some. It worked once or twice for me. I also tooled around with DXVK (the Vulkan translator api) but long story short, I don't have a hdr monitor anyway (it's referred to in the wiki that you'll have to read thoroughly) but anyway it went all particularly rong when I installed special K. The EA app is anti-nostalgia and obsessively monitors the game install directory for any modifications and aggressively erases them declaring 'corruption' and insisting you must repair the game. After that I got ' A required security module cannot be activated. This program cannot be executed (8007)' and no amount of translation from Vulkan can help me comprehend the meaning of it.
I then tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Mirrors edge and EA app and going back to just tweaking to get it to start rather than trying Vulkan but it then gave me the silent treatment. Mirror's Edge just did not load but did not crash either. It just sat there as an idle process doing nothing.
Now it is apparently locked in it's room self harming and screaming 'let me die!'.
Ah after a while I found the problem the Special K Dinput8.dll found it's way somehow into my 'clean backup' directory so I kept re-adding it every time I reinstalled the game. I thought I copied a clean install out anyway I deleted that and Mirror's Edge finally fired up again but with DirectX 9 instead of Vulkan which I'm leaving alone for now. It can work. The link for Mirror's Edge tweaks on pcgaming wiki doesn't work. You can find it here https://www.moddb.com/games/mirrors-edge/addons/persistent-fov in case you need to set your rez to 1080p or whatever your monitor is before running the game. and disabling the startup movie.
After a bit more of pressing buttons and trying things I went back to dxvk and randomly found
https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases so if you simply copy d3d9.dll and dxgi.dll to your me binaries folder but then you need to regulate it a bit with a dxvk.conf which you can create with notepad and save it to /binaries with the other d3d9.dll and dxgi.dll
#async
#only enable these on Windows
dxvk.enableAsync = true
dxvk.gplAsyncCache = true# Max Frame Latency (try 1 or 2 to reduce stutter, default is 3)
d3d9.maxFrameLatency = 2 # Or 1, experiment!
#safest
#basically a 100% guarantee to work
#d3d9.enableSwapChainUpgrade = true
#d3d9.upgradeSwapChainFormatTo = rgba16_sfloat
#d3d9.upgradeSwapChainColorSpaceTo = scRGBd3d9.enforceWindowModeInternally = disabled
# VSync Control
# 0 = Off, 1 = On (match display refresh rate), 2 = Adaptive
dxgi.syncInterval = 1
d3d9.presentInterval = 1 # Explicitly set D3D9 present interval# Frame Rate Limit (Optional - use instead of or in conjunction with VSync)
# Limits the frame rate. Set to 0 for no limit.
# For 60 FPS, use:
d3d9.maxFrameRate = 60# Enable DXVK HUD
# Options:
# fps: Show FPS counter
# full: Show full information (FPS, GPU/CPU usage, API details)
# frametimes: Show frametime graph
# version: Show DXVK version
# etc. (combine with + e.g., fps+version)
dxvk.hud = fullYou can comment out async with a # if you get any problem with it and the dxvk.hud but the main thing is to stabilize the frame rate but the great thing about using vulkan this way is it fully restores alt+tab functionality so you can switch in and out of the game with ease. None of the windowed fixes worked for me from pcgaming wiki. but the good news is you don't need them for that.
And finally I bumped up the dsr factors to 4k so you can also play at 'ultra hd' and I got a full 60fps even on my aging gtx 1060 which is a rather good example of that card and the core clock can hit 1950mhz without any overclock. So I put +400 on the memory frequency in msi afterburner to help it along a bit. and undervolted to a flat 1v or 1000mv and the game runs very smoothly with only occasional frame drops or a slight stutter every so often. Of course better hardware and it'll scream along excellently. This because the Special K/Hdr dvxk mod from pc gaming wiki will trigger the drm protection because of it's aggressive injection methods while the ea app tolerates a coupla .dll's and a .conf in the installation directory. And you can also set physx to run on the cpu in nvidia control panel. I have a zen 2 renoir and that doesn't incur the performance penalty it used to since these multithreaded creatures can handle physx better than old gpu's.
