Missing DLL EA Play via Gamepass PC
I need help fixing error "Invalid license. Reason code = Missing DLL:[NxCharacter.dll] Error: 0x7E" when installing through EA Desktop app (accessed via gamepass).
Every single guide concerning this issue is extremely outdated, cites directories that no longer apply to EA Desktop app, and do not account for errors in the current install of the game (the redist folders are A: not in the normal place, and B: missing in the case of the physX drivers). I know for a fact that my install from Steam will have all redist files, initialize them on first startup, and the game will actually work the first time launching. I just lost the login to my old account that held the keys to all my DLC. It honestly confounds me that EA is willing to drop the ball this hard, but I digress.
This game should be made to run immediately, on first startup, or should at the very least have the files needed to run it. I have taken the following steps to fix the problem.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled all graphics drivers, including physX
- Ran the game via .exe as both administrator mode and not
- Ran the game in compatibility mode for Win 7
All of these steps have been recommended in one guide or the other, but none of these steps has worked. Someone please comment with a fix, so that all the people after me with this issue can fix the problem with this half-assed install. In the meantime I'm going to go install the game through steam, since I know it will work there. It will be annoying to go find my old login, but at least the game will work when installed through steam.
