My download is endlessly stuck on "preparing".

I've tried everything, cleaning the cache, redownloading the EA app, updating it, repairing it, freeing up memory. Anything I could think of (and what I was able to find on the internet). Nothing ...

I’ve only ever downloaded sims on my ps5 but want to on my 2017 Macbook Air. I have got it downloading to a flash drive but it won’t get any further then 2% and saying preparing for the past 3 hours.
