My sims game won’t update
I click update and it completes the calculating time bit but then the app closes and this happens on repeat. I’ve reinstalled, cleared cache, restarted, and now idk what to do

Good choice with not uninstalling; I did that a week ago and I haven't got past 53% redownloading since then!
Quick fix for this: Disconnect from the internet and open the game to play. The Sims does not require internet to play and without internet it can't check for updates. This will not update the game, but it will at least let you play. I've been stuck not able to update for the last two days. I click the update button in the EA app and it just pops up a terms and condition, I click continue, and then there is not change. No indication that it is updating or loading or anything. Just the same page with the button saying I need to update the game. I don't know what the bug is, so hopefully it doesn't wreck anything, but honestly I just felt like playing so I didn't care much. You can copy your save files over to your desktop to back them up to be safe in case something weird is going on that needed to be fixed ASAP.
Update: Clearing my download manager seems to have helped.
