Phone number won’t link

I’m trying to link my phone number to my ea account and it keeps giving me a “please try again later” error. I’ve tried to reach out to support and their solution is just use another phone number… which isn’t a viable or reasonable solution because I do not have another phone number. I’ve tried logging in with the phone number to see if there is already an account with that number but it sends no password resets to my phone number so I’m at a total loss on what to do and I know I can’t play bf6 if I don’t have a phone number registered to my account.
