Plants Vs. Zombies GOTY Thinks It's Running on Virtual Machine

When I try to open Plants Vs. Zombies GOTY Edition on EA Desktop, it keeps showing up with the error "This game will not run in a virtual environment. Please use your main Windows environment to play." I'm playing on my computer, not a virtual machine so I don't know why the game thinks this. So far, I've tried clean booting which doesn't work because EA Desktop won't open and deleting and redownloading the game, which also doesn't solve the issue. Is there a fix to this?

EDIT: Tried deleting EA Desktop and redownloading it. Still didn't work.

    Having the same issue with Dead Space 2. Seems this was a common issue with Origin now it's popped up again with EA Desktop. If I find a solution I'll let you know...

    Summarize your bug Dragon Age 2 failed to launch, it keeps telling me that this game will not run in a virtual environment. But I'm not in a virtual machine.
    How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
    Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? open ea play, launch the game, and it happens.
    What happens when the bug occurs? An error window shows up and it says "this game will not run in a virtual environment, please use your main windows environment to play".
    What do you expect to see? Get a solution or update to solve this problem.

    trying to run dragon age 2 on my surface laptop and it failed. It keeps telling me that this game will not run in a virtual environment. I'm pretty sure I'm not in a virtual machine.
