Re: Don't see an option to locate game files EA Play Desktop

Hello you all,

i find something working (Just tried now with a BFV installation) !

You redownload the game normally BUT you must select the path where your game is already Installed. (The exact same path and exact names)

Once you've done this, EA Play will be stuck at download. And you won't be able to run the game yet.

I just stop the application, then restart, THEN clear the cache of the EA desktop App. => top right corner 3 small lignes > Help > Clear Cache (not sur of the name in english but now it's the 4th)

AND finally it's working fine, EA play see my installation and i can run the game

  • So I actually tried the method and you when trying to close the app it kept stuck at wrapping up.

So I tried just installing a game in the exact same ea games folder I created previously. And it just looks for files no need to go looking for a feature it was built in the installer.

Just install the games you had in the same EA directory where they exist and it will find existing files and might update if your backup is older.

  • @Moutschy tyvm, 2 hours fiddling with the app and it was this simple, ea needs more money to fix their trash client
  • I know that your method works as i've used it before, however in my case i'm trying to locate BF4. It's located on my SSD which has 50gb free - but BF4 with dlc is almost 70gb, EA desktop then says there's not enough space to download, even though the game is already on the drive.. Any work around for my scenario that doesn't involve deleting anything off my ssd?

EA get your * together this app is horrendous and i'm forced to use it because Origin doesn't support EA + Xbox Gamepass. So frustrating

@PrincessBabyDave I'm with you, moved Anthem to my SSD and now I can't start it. And trying to download it will cost me around a day in my third world internet.
  • @Otakranon Well, I deleted half of it (some folders under data) to free up some space and it started the download at around 40%.
  • Download origin app and use it to locate the game using the folder location and after that launch the ea app to play the game...You will find it among your installed games after that you can uninstall origin

  • seems to not work anymore after clearing the cache the game doesnt show up at all anymore i can only start a new download
