Re: EA Games crash while no issues on other games

Issue still persists.

I had to get a new mobo since my old one was faulty, i had hoped this might fix the fifa crashing too but nah it didnt.

  • This is still a problem. How is this still a problem after such a long time? What is my incentive to buy another EA published game ever again when all the games constantly crash due to OpenGL or DirectX or "hung error blah blah blah," when no other games I'm launching from Steam or GOG (or anywhere really) have this issue. This is NOT a hardware problem on the client side, this is a software problem on the publisher side. My gaming PC runs circles around PS5 and Series X in terms of raw horsepower.

These are games I've paid full price for that I cannot play. As others have mentioned, none of the suggestions ranging from driver updates to clean install of GPU drivers and everything in between, works. This is not acceptable.

Update: after months of trying everything, in a hail mary attempt to resolve this issue, I reverted my CPU clock to default. I was overclocking from 3.8 to 4.2. I haven't had a crash since then with about 7 hours of gameplay. This might also work for some of you who are overclocking.

To the admins reading this and passing it off as "issue fixed," it's not. I don't have a power draw issue, because I'm running all other non-EA games with my CPU overclocked without issues, as well as a host of other demanding software that I use for work. Furthermore, I'm playing at native 4k, so the CPU shouldn't even be an issue here.

    In march i have build a new pc (i7-13700KF/Asus H770 mobo/ 32Gb mem/ Asus4070 gpu).

After a week i got random crashes with fifa23. Some at startup, some when playing matches.

My mobo has 4 Q-leds for startup trobleshooting and non of them light on at startup but only the cpu led goes on for 2 sec when starting fifa23 and stays on when playing match.

I found out in HWMonitor that some P-cores instant hit 100°C when starting EA app and when playing match in fifa23.

I tried the newest and older drivers for gpu, mobo, mem and cpu. Firmware upgrades and downgrades.

I have tried my old 3060 gpu and repasted my cpu but absolutly nothing helps.

The last 2 weeks i have been doing downvolting my cpu to get is stable at a lower temp and got it at 92-94°C. Now i can render cinebench forever without hiting the 100°C so i think problem solved. NO NO i start fifa23 and a match and 30 sec later crash. No Q-led light, temp max 94°C and no report popup or anything.

I als tried playing NFS Unbound but then the crash is in 10 sec and the EA-app takes 5 min to react and popup.

I can play games from Xbox app, in steam or Epic games for hours without any problems in 4k, 1440p or fullHD.

I tried all settings in Ark, Cyberpunk 2077, RDR2, Snowrunner, F1 22, FS 22 and Conan exiles.

This problem is only an EA-App thing i don't know what it is and i will try more thing to find out where it comes from. My next tests wil be with my old pc (i7-6700k/ 16gb mem and GTX970 gpu)

I play the EA games via the Xbox game pass so didn't buy them and maby there is a problem between them.

My cpu is based runing at 5.3 so i lower it and tested in fifa23 and nfs:unbound.

First i tried 5.0 but that still wasn't stable so went to 4,8 and that worked well.

I played fifa23 for 1 hour and later nfs:unbound for 2 hours without any problems.

Great job @DebasedMusic for trying this.

Not the way it should be working but it does 🙂

The crashing on my end has actually evolved.

I cant even get into the menu of the game anymore, it will just shutdown as soon as the game fires up and goes fullscreen mode after pressing "play" on steam.

And i have a 13700k+4090+ddr5 pc and temps are perfectly fine.

Yesterday i did a reinstall of windows 10 and updated my motherboard BIOS to the latest version, that didnt help at all either.

  • Yup. Same Issue as you but more weird. Sometimes it boots up. Sometimes not. Sometimes I can play 10-20 minutes without anything weird, and then, out of the f. nowhere it starts crashing and then not even starting... fix this EA we pay Money for this BS. (It can't be my specs either 4 days ago it worked perfectly fine. After rebooting the game for the 1th. time it crashes.

  • Are you overclocking your CPU? I was, and when I reverted back to the default clock speed, the game stopped crashing.
