I'm running Windows 8.1 x64 and today, for the first time, it will not load the EA App. Entry Point Not Found, is the error. It says GetDPIFromDpiAwarenessContext could not be located in the DLL EaDesktop.exe. I looked at the path indicated, and the exe file is not there! It ran fine yesterday. I'm inclinede to redownload the app, but I don't want to mess things up any further.
The same thing is happening to me I’ve done done some research (ask ChatGPT) and it’s say window 7-8 won’t support ea app I’ve looked on x and Reddit to see if anyone else is expecting the same problem. I hoping this is just a glitch and it will be fixed soon because I searched everywhere across the internet and and I haven’t seen ea announce their going to only support window 10 and 11 so idk
tried to start EA play on my PC Battlefield 3 today. It worked well yesterday but today, it's impossible to start the EADesktop.exe and to start the game, even offline as it need the launcher.
The entry point "GetDpiFromDpiAwarenessContext" seem to be the problem.
I tried to repair, to uninstall/install, but it still does not work. I tried a Windows recovery but it did not succeed.

I have the same problem! Yesterday everything was fine (02.20.2026), but today it's not! It's a cry from the heart, please explain what the problem is! I'm already blaming my computer, and I've already reinstalled the launcher several times, but if I'm not the only one with this issue, then something must have happened...
You are not alone with it. I have the same exact error message, i cnt launch ea desktop either since the last app update. There are several topics around here about this.

im on Win 10 and having the same issue. It would be hillarious from even EA to stop supporting the most used Os. At least i hope its only a bug, one can never tell if its about EA.
So i posted this earlier but wanted to install of windows 10 to confirm it. Based on results on the upgrade I have been able to launch the EA app with a install of windows 10.
Based on the email, I guess they are not gonna provide a direct fix to windows 8.1 users, but I can see now that windows 10 users also may affected by the 2-20-26 EA update. They may fix it but dont get your hopes up on going out of way to fix it for windows 8.1.
they sent an email on september 22,2025 that they would discontinue support for the EA app for windows 7,8 users. I have an image of the message sent in a post below.
Same problem as you, but on windows 8. I upgraded to windows 10 and it fixed the problem. Might help seeing if you can get the latest windows 10 updates and seeing if you see any changes.
Same issue here but I fixed it by upgrading to windows 10. what operating system version are you running?
I have Windows 10 pro, but I haven't updated the patches for this operating system in a while. If this is the issue, it would be quite rude to deprive a significant part of the gaming community from playing on older operating systems. I don't have the option to install W11, so I must either wait for the issue to be resolved or completely uninstall and reinstall W10. However, this may not solve the problem in the future if everyone is forced to switch to W11.
I’m having the same issue. I’m angry. I’ve been playing the Sims 4 for 15 years and now because I don’t have a newer computer I cannot access the hundreds or dollars worth of games I’ve purchased. Not happy.
