Tried all of the above. 

Also tried installing all recommended Microsoft Visual Studio Runtimes in both 32bit and 64bit.

And no, I'm not going to reinstall Windows.

Can we escalate this to EA so we can actually get access to a debuggable version of the EA App which creates logging that's meaningful to the devs and would enable them to figure out why, of all the apps out there, only the EA App is failing to render its UI.

Edit: Reinstalling Windows is not recommended at this time. This issue is being investigated.

As stated, no. I'm not going to reinstall Windows just in case it happens to fix an app which - of all the others apps on my system - does not work correctly.

Let's get this escalated to one of the team who actually wrote the EA App.

There is another suggestion here that might help. There are also some suggestions in this thread.

Thank you but all of these options have been tried and did not fix the problem, including updating DirectX and manually removing the EA cache folders from %appdata%. If you're aware of any other cached material which exists elsewhere then please let me know but none of these suggestions helped.

Currently, the only resolution I'm aware of is reinstalling Windows. I'll let you know if I find any other solutions.

Thanks. Needless to say, that’s not really a solution at all. I’m looking forward to hearing that EA is looking into this because everything I’ve seen so far suggests they’re not taking it seriously, which is a shame.

I have to say, that reinstalling Windows is not really a solution. I honestly don't know anything about what the actual purpose of a 'Community manager' is, but I hoped that you could escalate problems like this one to EA's developers, to make them dig in to the problem and find a way to solve it.

The new EA app feels like a very early beta release, or even an alpha version, that shouldn't even have seen daylight. If you have any voice to EA, please, encourage them to revive Origin for a couple of months, until they have found a way to make the new app run stable.

Try running the EA App updater. You can find it by default at C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EAUpdater.exe

@EA_Aljo thank you - I've run the updater, which did update the version of the app, but then when the app launched I got exactly the same result : An empty window with no user interface, just transparent (invisible actually) on my desktop.

I've tried to run the EA App updater as suggested, but no luck on that.

I've also tried to install the EA App on my laptop, and I'm facing the exact same problem.

@onesize_kingsize thanks. @EA_Aljo  is it now time for you to contact EA themselves and arrange for some developer eyes on this problem? How do we escalate it?

So far, it's a very small amount of people experiencing this. Have you tried disabling your anti-virus software as a test? If that helps, add an exception for the EA App to your antivirus software.

You may also need to add the EA Backgroundservice an exception.

Another possible solution is to install the DirectX End-User Runtime.

Tried all of the above. No difference. @onesize_kingsize any luck?

Are you a software developer @MarcVRML ? Just wondering if some developer tool or lib is causing a conflict somewhere. Might be worth us comparing lists of installed app to see if there’s a common denominator.

@gerball1 no, some of my team do but I try and keep away from the various Visual C++ and debug runtime libs where possible. Happy to compare a list of installed apps though.

Here's how to generate one ...

1. Press WIN + X and select Windows PowerShell (Admin)
2. Run the following commands, pressing Enter after each one of them

wmic
/output:C:\apps.txt product get name, version

3. Go to C:\ and you'll see the file list.txt with all your installed apps in it.

OK thanks. I've attached mine, will see if I can find something to match them against each other automatically.

Ok here's a list of matches. Mainly seems to be Visual C++ stuff. I guess if more people can do this we can try narrowing it down further.

@gerball1 thanks for doing that. What would be the next step? Finding an app list from someone who's EA App works ok, and then seeing what we have that they don't?

I don't think EA will help at all unfortunately, the company is too big.

I was able to strike a few more entries off the list by comparing to a fresh Windows 10 install (where the EA app works). A few of the Visual C++ components we have are installed by default.

The next step will be to get someone else affected to post their list, and to try uninstalling some of the components on the list (uninstalling VC++ runtimes that aren't installed with Windows should be fine).

@onesize_kingsize are you able to generate an app list to do this test as well?

I’ve tried every suggestion including directx reinstall and disabling antivirus. Unfortunately without any luck. 
I was just about to start reinstalling windows on my main pc, but when the app doesn’t even work on my fresh installed laptop, I’m not gonna waste several hours reinstall windows and all my other software. 
I really don’t think that reinstalling windows is a fair step to require from the end users, during troubleshooting on a problem like this. 
Don’t you have a build in log system for troubleshooting in the fantastic new EA App you are forcing us to use?
