Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.102.190.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? ALL EPs, GPs, SPs and Kits are installed
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1) Open the EA Desktop App 2) Enter e-mail, phone or EA ID and password 3) Click Log in
What happens when the bug occurs? Get error message that says, "Login failed...We couldn't log you in because the network failed to do its network thing. Try again in a few minutes. Error code: EC:10005
What do you expect to see? I expect to log in, enter the EA app, press the "play" button and start Sims 4.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Before I logged into the EA app, I went into the Sims 4 folder located in Documents and cleared the .jpg files from the onlinethumbnailcache folder.

I cannot enter the EA app after logging in. I have tried the following to fix the issue which none of what is listed below resolved the EC10005:

  1. Repair the EA app and restart my PC.
  2. Uninstall the EA app, restart my PC and then redownload the EA app
  3. Restarted my router

I think it might have something to do with anti-virus as McAfee gave me a pop-up saying that they've blocked a domain in the EA app. unblocking it fixed the issue for me

@EA_Barry@atr0xiis  I have read through article in the link you sent and done ALL the steps suggested to no avail. I am still getting EC: 10005 and seems like from the link so are A LOT of other players who not just Sims 4 players but players from other EA games that are force you to use the EA app. This seems like more of an EA problem than a player's network problem - I certainly hope EA addresses and resolves the issue (again since this happened two years ago according to the chat thread dates on the Help EA site)...expediently.

@atr0xiis I do not use McAfee, however, I use another service to provide security and protection - I checked my firewall and EA app has all the permissions so it not that. Thank you for your help.

@amethyst1996 If you haven't already seen it, there is another thread on this problem on the EA App board, with a few more details on possible temporary workarounds. The EC:10005 error code started popping up for a lot of players in the last day or so. The McAfee fix is working for some, but not for everyone. If you can use your phone to create a Wi-Fi hotspot, try using that to log into the EA App. Once you are logged into the App, you can then switch it to offline mode, disable the hotspot, and then launch your game from the App's offline menu. It's just a temporary workaround. From what I am seeing on that other thread, along with what I have been told by EA Help, it appears that for some players, the issue is on EA's end, not ours.

@RandomBuzziness, Yes, I have seen the thread and I have tried the workaround of shutting of security to log in, as well as a host of other solutions, and nothing has worked for me. I have since chatted with EA support which they informed me EA is aware of the problem that is occurring global and is assessing the problem and logged an EA Error Report.

@amethyst1996 Mine is now working, without any changes on my part to any security or A/V settings. Perhaps the fix is being made incrementally. I have also been informed by Help EA advisors that this is a known issue on their end and that they are continuing to work on it. Keep checking & hopefully they'll have you back into the game soon!
