Re: How to Fix the Blank Login or Library Window of EA app?

Hey, so with the help of @elbarck there is a work-around and I'm so grateful to their research!! The issue seems to be with the GPU on the computer. If you disable it, you will be able to sign in and play your games. In my case, since I'm playing The Sims 3 which has it's own independent launcher, I was able to go sign in, re-enable the GPU and then just use the launcher and have no problems getting in.

If you don't know how to disable the GPU, open the start menu and search for "Device Manager." (You can also open the computer settings and search for Device Manager as well.) Click on "Display Adapters", then right click on the chipset and select disable. The screen is going to change and be super funky, but you should be able to load up the EA App and log in. (These instructions worked on my computer, but I'm not sure if they will work on all, so report back if this doesn't work for some reason).

If this doesn't work for you report back and we'll see what else we can do.

Also, I went through all the posts and I'm certain I found most everyone in the conversation having this issue, but if I missed someone, let me know!

    Thanks for your advice!
I tried it and it doesn't work for me.

I disabled the dGPU via the Lenovo Vantage app, tried to open EA and the Sims 4 via a shortcut on my desktop and still nothing.
Also tried disabling the iGPU and the steps above, still nothing.

I am really really hoping EA comes with a solution. I have the feeling its a problem with newer computers/laptops but I'm unsure.

  • What if you only have one option for display adaptor?

I appreciate any help as I'm not very tech savvy.

  • So I clicked around in the blank app and a document downloaded. I have attached it.

As I mentioned, I am not tech savvy, and I don't understand what it means.

Can someone please explain it? Thank you.

  • @lalpal101 I only have the one chipset, too. Right click on that and disable it. It'll revert to the most basic of basic display and then you should be able to load up the EA App.

Let me know if that works. 🙂

@Sepukukitty Thanks for the advice and for your attention! I turned off the GPU adapter and turned on the default Windows adapter, but unfortunately this did not help me. Perhaps I did something wrong, or misunderstood your advice, but I still have the same black login in screen even after this ☹️
  • Ive done all of those things as well, Gpu, revo uninstaller, and muuch more. still having the same problem. I hope EA works it out soon. i just want to play the games i payed for

Hello I was experiencing the same issue. So i figured out a work around nothing fancy real simple. Open task manager, on the left hand side click start up apps, find ea launcher on the list, right click it select open file location, find ea desktop in the ea folder double click it, The app will start right up! I hope this helps💡

Thank you for this workaround! I really appreciate it because It worked  I was finally able to open the EA app and not have a blank screen, however, as you warned, it made the screen, look "funky" and I don't like that, when I enable the graphics adapter I then get the same issue and end up having a Blank screen. I guess it's a win/lose situation for me, so idk what to do becasue neither EA or Microsoft have been able to assist even given this new information and I'm just tired of dealing with it, makes me hardly want to play the games I enjoy so much.

Thank you so much! I’ve done the above and it finally works 👍🏻 I’m sure it will revert back to a blank screen once I re-enable everything but at least I am able to re-download my games again.

@missaonetwo I am glad that it worked with you!

I hoped that it would work with others too, but they are either didn't know how to do it, or they have another cause.

    Hello everyone,

We appreciate your feedback about the issue you're experiencing with the EA app. It's interesting that disabling your GPU drivers seems to fix the issue for some people, as this could indicate an issue between the GPU drivers and their interaction with the EA app, something that isn't observed with the default Windows Display Adapter Drivers. (Credits to @elbarck for discovering this workaround!)

    Heads-up

Please be aware, though, that disabling your GPU driver could lead to a significant decrease in your system's performance, as Windows may not be able to 'communicate' with the GPU and revert to using the CPU's onboard Windows Display Adapter Drivers.

    The investigation

To further investigate this issue, we're asking for your assistance in providing the following information on this thread:

With this data, our EA app dev teams can work towards identifying the root cause of the issue and hopefully roll out a fix for it, eliminating the need for the current workaround.

    Thank you in advance!

I think the topic has all the needed reports from different users.

It seems to be an issue with recent versions of EA desktop.

I have attached my DxDiag report!

    Hope you fix it soon!

Also hope to inform your email support about how to respond to problems because they are useless. They don't even read the tickets.

Last response I got two days ago, was about how they are going to help me to install the EA app on mobile????

One of the worst experiences I have ever had!
