Re: PSA: Sims 4 "Failed to launch game - An error on our end" -> Check Your Mods!

I have been working on trying to correct this error since the update.... then it dawned on me that EA says it's their error and asks us to check later... Why haven't they gotten back to us with #1 what happened and #2 when will it be fixed?

That is true. I even sent a ticket to EA about the message. They sent troubleshooting tips and such to help me fix it, but it was still the same result.

I have tried as well it wont work either its quite frustrating

Update: I had to rename the sims 4 file and completely restart, I don't know if this did something but in the sims 4 properties i typed in "-dx9" and now my game is launching perfectly fine. I'm gonna try to see if any of the mods I had in specific were corrupting my game hopefully this can help get your game to work too! 

Me too I was able to play perfectly fine yesterday and now I have this error too and EA has been utterly USELESS!!!!

go to your mods folder and  search "Macosx" in your mods , Delete all of them if you do. thats why my game wasnt opening, sometimes when you download mods from a third party, they have this unreadable file with it. it can keep your game from opening. i didnt no it was this cause it use to say a whole different type of message if it was. it changed so i had no idea

The problem most likely is a mod, for me all my script mods worked and didn't break the game in specific Wonderful Whims, Kawaii Stacie, Andrew Pose Player, Panda Child Birth, Mc Command Center and neither did custom cas backgrounds or more cas collums but the one that didn't let my game run was build mode cc from Twinsiming.

It didn't? If you rename the sims 4 file inside the electronic arts folder something different like "Sims Broken" and you run the game it forces it to create a whole new file that should allow the game to start. If it does run you can start adding your mods little by little to see if any are causing the launching issue for me it was cc from the creator twinsiming I think downloaded it from a different website, I hope you can get it working soon!

I was getting the same error after a recent update. In Windows, search for your "controlled folder access" and turn it OFF. It's in Windows Security under Ransomware protection. This is the only thing that worked for me after HOURS of trying everything!

Did you type that in the advanced launch option category?

I don't have that in my mods folder

I think it's a mod as well because I renamed the Electronics Art folder and repaired the game, and it launched perfectly fine with no mods. I can't figure out which one it is because all my script mods are updated for the August patch and all my main menu, start screen, and loading screens are up to date as well. I usually use MCCC to find what mod is not working, but the game won't launch. T-T

I also used MCCC to find out what's broken but since the game wouldnt launch I had to do it myself taking apart my mods folder adding a few and launching until I found the cc that was preventing the launch. I have a pretty small mod amount it took me about 2 hours to look through 4,841 cc but I just grabbed half and grouped it, to make it easier I added it back in clumps of creators that way I could keep track of it better. I don't think its any script mods those are working just fine for me same for overrides, its probably either cas cc or buildmode that is causing the issue.

The thing is.... I have totally removed all CC, Save & tray files to my backup drive and disconnected the backup drive. I also turned off my "OneDrive". Then I checked all drives on the computer and deleted all EA-related files on my PC - then went into my control panel and removed all EA files as well as EA game files, anything that could be remotely linked to EA. In other words, I removed all EA from my PC - also removed the TRS CC & TS4 Mod manager and all CC files.....     Turned my PC off, waited a couple of minutes, then went into my files and rechecked, and there was not a thing left. Went and double checked to make sure my "OneDrive" was still off. Then I went and reinstalled my EA. Then reinstalled my games. Then turned the PC off and went back in and double checked again, and there was nothing but EA app and my games installed. Went and tried to launch the game and got our EA message.  I have done this whole procedure 3 separate times and still get this "Launch" message. I have purchased every pak, kit, etc. EA has available as well as the new preorder. I have done "Repair" on all add-ons and the game via the EA app several times.  That is a big investment for a game I can't even launch.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              

I just double-checked for the Mac files and found one...!!! I was so excited! But... got the same error message and no launch - Heavy sigh... 

I have No CC even on my PC... still no launch

Tried that, but I still can't get in - I've seen a couple different versions of this and have done them all. no luck.

What version of Windows do you have? I have Windows 11, and I can't locate it in 'Windows Security', either file location the "controlled folder access" or the "Ransomware protection" file location.  There are no files named this, nor do they have a file that could remotely perform those functions.

My Windows 11 updated within 1/2 hr of my trying to launch my game... wonder if that had anything to do with it?

I tried restarting the game, uninstall it, uninstall ea, cleared cache, reset WiFi turn off real time protection, and added exception . But nothing worked. I couldn’t find a mods folder in the sims 4 folder so I couldn’t check mods and I never used mods. So if anyone knows what to do that would be nice, cause I’m a a loss😭😭😭.
