As a first suggestion to re-download The Sims 4 base game I would say to clear the EA app cache. Click on the menu at the top left and then on Help>App Recovery. At that point try to start the download again, try to have only the app active while you re-download the game (so close other programs).
I paid full price for the expansion packs and did not use the subscription service. Everything stopped working and I can no longer download the game as others seem to be having this issue. EA is not taking any accountability for this issue.
I get stuck on preparing the download for sims 4, but can download other games. I have no issues downloading on STEAM, and I am seeking a refund.
But EA has the most incompetent customer service in existence and directed me here with my issues.
Who can help with refunds because this is beyond unacceptable.
EA sold me something that they clearly broke for me and others, and have left us with nothing.
I have done all the silly troubleshooting suggestions.
The problem is through EA's software.
So refund me or send me the physical copy of the game.
Since EA clearly can't fix what they broke.
- GiardiniDiMarzo2 years agoLegendFirst of all we are players like you here trying to help within the limits of our competence and ability, unfortunately we don't have access to your account and we certainly can't be the ones to provide support for a possible refund. That said, the title of this post is EA play (which is the subscription service) and the complaint was about that. If, on the other hand, the problem is with the EA app, we can talk about that.

I have tried all of these things.
Logged out and back in
Cleared the CACHE
Uninstalled the EA app and reinstalled it multiple times
Ran as administrator
Deleted every bit of sims on my computer, getting rid of my 200 plus hours of work.
Restarted the computer multiple times.
The EA software will download other games, just not SIMS 4. I have been at this since 6am.
It's sad EA takes zero responsibility for this.

With the app closed, click on Start>EA (folder)>EA Updater and wait until the app is updated. Then try again App Recovery.
