@puzzlezaddict the folder was empty, I have sims 3 and sim city and they are working fine.. It just seems to be sims 4.. When I moved the license folder the same thing came up with sims 3 but then I moved the folder back and it worked.
Unfortunately I don't think I will have the space so I won't be able to try that but I'd be keen to see if someone else with the same issues maybe can
@Gizmo86 Sims 3 is enough of a test to tell me what I wanted to know. I'll ask around for more ideas.
In the interim, could you try playing both games in a new admin Windows account? Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account; you should have the option to say "I don't know this person's email" and "continue without an email account" or similar. Move the License folder to the desktop in the old account before testing in the new one, and please do try both Sims 4 and 3.
