SOLVED: App Downloads drop to 0 mbps

I've been re-downloading BF2042 today. a lot because it is a bugged mess and this is my only hope.

If you've been downloading a big game on the PC EA App, and you see that it drops to 0.0 MB/s, so you pause/unpause to get it going again only for it to drop to 0.0 MB/s again, I have the fix for you.

Thanks to a certain Verizon plant at the FTC, Net neutrality is dead which means that ISPs can now throttle certain types of traffic. This includes P2P.

EA's downloads rely on P2P even though they do not have this function documented publicly. This means that on big downloads, your ISP may throttle the download or completely stop the traffic. Your only solution is to either convince your ISP not to throttle the traffic, or buy a commercial VPN to keep the traffic anonymous from your ISP.

The real solution here is for EA to use dedicated download servers to host game files. They are cheaping out by relying on P2P, knowing that many ISPs consider it illegitimate traffic due to piracy concerns.

Community Managers please reply to deny P2P functionality of the EA App. If you do, explain why upload bandwidths max out during download activity.

  • Had the same Issue. I tried all of the Stuff from Forums like Reddit and EA and Youtube. My Download dropped from 26mb/s to 0b/s after i downloaded around 10GB from Star Wars Jedi Survivor. I had to pause the Download than and resume, so i had the full Downloadspeed back. Than i saw this Post here, activated my integrated VPN on Norton Security and now i downloaded it flawless till the End. This is a real mess of your App. EA fix this P2P nonsense...
