Having a similar problem. Click on the shortcut, eventually it loads ea play and says to repair the files but then says to try again later.
Occasionally it'll show it as downloading whilst also saying download complete. Either way, the game doesn't run through steam or ea play anymore and I'm having to go through origin to play.
Surprising how much one small update can * things up so much
