The Sims 4 / Medieval unplayable with EA App

I purchased these games through Origin when they were first released. I don't use DLC, and only official expansion /kits/ stuff packs. I also have TS3. Which I had issues with before doing a little troubleshooting with answers on this forum it's the only playable game.

I have been in contact with EA Support for over a month, being bounced around to different people who keep repeating the incorrect advice (installation advice instead of playing the game!). They say they have read my case file which I included ALL system details and probably more than they needed to know, but I thought what the heck at least they know... yet they still ask what system I run and are intent on fixing installation issues...

I have tried all troubleshooting methods from the forum and whatever they suggest I do. It's simply not good enough.

I am on a disability pension and money is tight enough as it is. The only way I can afford to luxuries like gaming things are by saving gift cards that I receive from presents for birthday, christmas and easter, etc.

This is despicable for such a big company. It's obviously an issue with the app as it isn't just Sims players with the issue... Why hasn't a fix for it been found yet? So very disappointed. Word of mouth is the biggest thing that kills companies not willing to help their clients. We can't all afford X-Boxes or PS consoles to play on those, and to be honest, I really don't want to. But it looks like it's where they're pushing their players to go.

    Hi @jennie77au

Can you provide a bit more detail on what happens when you try to play your games- are you seeing a specific error message or are the games not launching at all?

  • Hi Solaire

I have attached the error message I'm getting for both Medieval AND TS4. I cannot play either on my device, yet I can play TS3...

  • Hi @puzzlezaddict

I can't play Medieval or TS4. I have attached the error message I get for both games.I have had this issue open with EA Support since March this year. I have followed everything they have told me to do, as well as the suggestions I've seen on the forum...

I can play TS3 though! This is all since I updated the EA app in February.

I have included my dxdiag fyi...

    Thank you!

@jennie77au  I've merged your new post with your older thread.

The initialization error is typically caused by an overly active antivirus, especially these days.  So please set exceptions in yours for TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64, and TS4_Launcher_x64; or the entire Bin folder they're in.  Set an exception for EADesktop.exe as well.  The executable for Sims Medieval is TSM.exe.  If you need more help with Medieval, please post in Other Sims Games; I don't really know enough about that game to offer anything further.

The interesting part of your dxdiag is that I don't see a dedicated graphics card listed, only the graphics chip integrated into the processor.  But you have a proper gaming laptop that by all rights should have a dedicated card, and from what I can gather, this particular model of TUF Gaming A16 (FA617XS from your dxdiag) does come with a Radeon RX 7600S:

Did you disable this GPU, either deliberately or while troubleshooting something else?  Does it show up in the Device Manager?  Click Windows key-X, select the Device Manager, open Display adapters, and let me know what you see.  The 780M is the iGPU; you should see the 7600S listed separately.
