I've been having this problem after switching from Origin on Windows 10.
The only thing that seems to work for me is rebooting my PC and then immediately starting up the EA app.
After a fresh reboot the app seems to load things properly and let me play my games.

Thank you! This is what worked for me. I just started having this issue as well. Clearing the cache does not work and neither does restarting the app. Restarting my PC and immediately opening the EA app allows it to work.
