Forum Discussion
Hi Hunter-Backup,
Getting locked out because of a dead email and a 2FA loop is incredibly frustrating.
First, just to set expectations: for security and privacy reasons, no one here on the forums (not even EA Community Managers) can manually change your email or bypass 2FA. Only the official EA Support team can do that.
Here’s the best way to break the loop and actually reach a human:
- Create a temporary EA account Since the EA Help website forces you to log in to open a ticket, the easiest workaround is to create a brand‑new EA account using a working email address.
- Open the ticket Log into EA Help with that new account, select a game or “EA app,” and choose the topic “Account Security” or “I can’t log in.” Start a live chat or open an email case.
- Explain the situation Tell the advisor that you’re contacting them from a secondary account because your main account is locked behind a deleted email address.
- What you should prepare To verify ownership and allow them to swap the email on your main account, they will ask for some information. Having this ready will speed things up:
- The old (now dead) email linked to the locked account
- Your EA ID / Username
- Your linked Steam ID
- The Date of Birth registered on the account
- Your IP address, and any proof of purchase (receipts, CD keys, transaction history)
It may take a bit of back‑and‑forth, but as long as you can provide enough proof of ownership, the support team will help you recover the account and update the email.
If you need an official reference while preparing your case, EA also provides a detailed guide on recovering locked or compromised accounts.
Even though your account isn’t hacked, the verification steps and ownership checks described there are the same ones Support will use for email recovery. It can help you understand what information they’ll ask for and speed up the process.
Best of luck Hunter!
