Whenever I launch the EA app I get a 'temporarily lost connection error'

Hi.

Whenever I launch the EA app I get a 'temporarily lost connection error'. I have tried turning my firewall off and adding it to the exceptions list as well as restarting my laptop, updating my drives and various WiFi and Ethernet connections but nothing seems to help. I'm really not sure what else to try; open to any and all suggestions.

  • Hi Everyone,

Thanks for lettings us know what you are running into with the new EA App. I wanted to take a moment and share the awesome workarounds already provided by community members in this thread.

This error is typically caused by the EA App being blocked or closed from running in some manner.

    Check your anti-virus (Community Workarounds)

If you continue running into this issue you can also try the following steps...

From here I will be solving and locking this thread. Since we had some recent connection issues that were resolved, we just want to make sure that reports aren't getting muddied. If you do run into any new issues please create a new post letting us know what you are running into (Any screenshots or Dxidags help as well!) and we can provide any relevant information.

    Cheers!

  • Reinstall the app and for some dumb reason, restart your pc.
     After that it will work.

  • I had that problem, but I solved it, I opened up services.msc, looked for EABackgroundService and I saw that it was stopped so I just clicked Start and it worked for me fine.

  • Go to control panel, manage installed programs, right click EA app, it should say "Uninstall" and "Repair", click repair, it will say downloading stuff, when its finished you should be able to login and work as normal

  • For about 7 months now I have been unable to log into the EA app as I see temp loss of connection. I have spoken to several agents on chat who have told me to try the following....

    Reinstall

    Reboot

    Repair

    Clear cache

    Try another network

    New PC acc user

    Change EA password

    Disable antivirus

All tried without success. I was told today by an agent that I should speak with Microsoft as they have exhausted all their troubleshooting efforts. I made it quite clear that I do not believe this to be a Microsoft issue as I have seen several posts about the same issue and I have absolutely no issues with loading/playing anything else.

I then asked the agent if I can raise a formal complaint, I was told no that I need to speak to Microsoft first. I then asked if the agent could provide me with a link to EA's complaint process and I was informed EA does not have a complaint process.

To say I am annoyed is an understatement, I have spent a lot of money on The Sims and have not been able to play for months and now I am told I cannot complain or see a formal process? Shocking!
