"You're running low on disk space"

I just tried to install the new update and I keep getting the You're running low on disk space message. I had 13GB of storage free, is there not a better way for EA to run these updates?

I spent the last hour deleting everything from my laptop and it is still not nearly enough to install the update. It gets to 80% and then stops.

The whole game is already taking up 75GB of space on my laptop, and it needs 17GB more for the update? I don't understand.

Is there any solution for this? Please help me. 🙏🏼

PS I've been having this issue for almost every update in the last year and honestly it's getting tiring. Is there someplace I could send a complaint for it to actually mean anything? I see others have been having this issue too and nothing seems to help.

Longer-term though, having only 13 GB free on your drive isn't good for performance or for the overall health of your computer.  The system uses some of this space for swapping data in and out of RAM under heavier loads, but that's only possible whenthere's enough space in the first place.  And installing a new OS version requires more space than that as well.  So it might be time to invest in a quality (and fast) external drive and move some applications there instead, perhaps including Sims 4.
