How to force sync Cloud Saves Mass Effect LE with SteamDeck?

I have PC and recently purchased SteamDeck.

On both platforms I installed Mass Effect Legendary Edition via Steam.

Steam does not offer Cloud Storage for Mass Effect, but on both ends it installed EA App.

When running a game from a SteamDeck I got following message (see screenshot).

On PC I have my saves safe and sound.

How can I force re-sync them with SteamDeck?

  • Nailed it!

    • First I looked into /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1328670/pfx/drive_c/ProgramData/EA Desktop/Logs/EADesktop.log
    • I found there is an error message just before downloading files that points to invalid telemetry request lock
    • Then in the file /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1328670/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Electrinic Arts/EA Desktop/user_xxxxxxxxxx.ini I added following lines:
      • user.telemetry.optionaloptout=1
      • user.igoenabled=0
    • Launching still failed.
    • I fully reboot the Steamdeck
    • Launching still failed, but this time in logs there was invalid lock for IP given
    • I setup new Wi-Fi shared from mobile phone to get a new IP address and connected SteamDeck through it
    • And, 5 days, later, I was able to sync my saves!

Seriously, guys, if I wasn't in the industry myself I would gave up long ago. Where were your support for the past 5 days? xD

  • Since yesterday I have tried:

    • Saving new game state on PC in ME: LE, in attempt to retrigger the synchronization
    • Reboot the SteamDeck
    • Contacting EA customer support. Indian (I presume) supporter wasn't particular helpful, and all he could tell me was to restart my PC (which concluded our conversation on that PC)

    Any other leads or ideas?

  • Round of next stuff I tried:

    • Full reinstallation on Steamdeck without downloading file from PC (only from network). 100 gb download later, no effects
    • Backing up and removing saves on PC to verify if cloud stores them correctly. After next launch on PC, the saves were downloaded correctly
    • This narrowed down the issue to SteamDeck <-> EA Cloud communication
  • Nailed it!

  • Ah, and apparently it's not enough to get saves once on fresh network. I need to connect via mobile phone dynamic IP address each time I want to sync my saves... cutting edge tech indeed :-)
