Mass Effect avatars removed?

Sorry all for the inconvenience with the avatars. You should be able to pick an avatar from a slightly bigger library again.
The asset cache issue (that also affected the brand logo and the banners & backgrounds in page templates) has been addressed, we are hopeful that it's for good this time!

Also, we are still working towards an option for users to add their own custom avatars.

That is what I used to see.  Those old crappy avatars that look like they were made in the 2000s. I don't like the style.  

You are a "Rising Veteran"  apparently I'm a "New Scout" so I'm guessing the difference has to do with the role assignments and what people are seeing.  

Role assignment settings are the problem. Avatars  should not be based on how much posting I do, but how long I've been a part of this community.  I don't run around posting normally. I have been a member for 16 years. If I can't be trusted to pick out an avatar after 16 years, we have a problem.  

BTW. The brand logo in the top left corner is also missing from the header at this moment.

It's an issue with the image/asset server cache for the avatars. It gets corrupted after some time. 
Restarting the server is a temporary fix - until it gets corrupted again - incredibly frustrating (especially since frequency has increased).

A permanent fix is being worked on at priority.

My avatar seems to change randomly every so often, and now it is blank. The options available for me at the moment are just the geometric colours. I wasn't too impressed with the choices before, but I wish they would stop making changes that break everyone's avatar. It's hard enough to tell people apart with the limited range available; it's even harder when they keep changing!

This is what I see when I try to choose an avatar.  I've had this account for 16 years, and I'm now listed as a New Scout, which honestly I find offensive after the 25 years I've spent in the community.  True that I'm not much of a contributor, I have my moments, but I tend to be more of a lurker.  Why can't we upload custom avatars, like most every other gaming site.   The old avatars weren't that great IMHO, but better than some geometry kaleidoscope of vectors.  

I only have like 12 avatars to choose from and only see the default blank silhouette for most users' posts. 

Avatars are still broken for me, at least around 50% of the time.
