I'm very sad about these forums right now. I just want the old forums back. I know some issues here will improve as they've said they're working on them (the show more button loading a lot more posts, more avatar options at least, and maybe personalised ones in the future, bugs being fixed), but the problem is the fundamental design here doesn't suit the way we all used to interact with each other. That fundamental design is here to stay. I've already given up on some of the longer threads I used to enjoy, just because its too much effort to load the pages, and because I know a lot of the kind of chat I used to enjoy reading will be buried deep in nested replies. This place is just too slow and cumbersome for the 'lively discussions' advertised at the top of the Sims 4 page. I used to check into the old forums at lot, but I'm coming here less and less - and I'm finding there's not much going on and I haven't really missed much because others are doing the same. It's not working.
I pretty much agree with you as I find myself not visiting this site as much as I do with the AHQ site even though there isn't much activity going on over there as some sims players don't like posting over there. I was hoping that this site would have been set up like the AHQ site and that the Sims 3 would had my subsections like it is over on the AHQ site instead of just the 1 section as we have it now. I know that this isn't the finished product yet, so I really hope that they reconsider the design and layout of the site to be more user-friendly than it is now
I much prefer to have pages and page numbers and not the way it is now over here as I find out hard to keep up with reading the "What happened in your game" threads for TS3/TS4. I know that we can sort it by oldest post but then it will take too long to get to the last post that we've read so we can read the new post/s that comes afterwards. And even sorting for the new posts to be up top, you still have to scroll down the page looking for the oldest-newest post and then you still have to scroll down while reading it and then scrolling back up to the next newest post just to read that one and so forth when we could just keep scrolling down to the next post. With the feeling in mind, I'll probably be using the Creative Corner section for TS3/TS4 over on the AHQ site when I am ready to post my updates of any kind with either a separate thread for each story or a thread for each sim/house/lot that I create in the games.
