Proposal for Free expression on the Forum

In my case I accidentally/forgot the zero tolerance for just saying "please do not mark my post as solved". But IMHO that rule could be lightened up on (aka free expression so I IMO is on topic).

Responded to your DM HollownessDevour​, but worth mentioning here that a DM is absolutely the right way to handle this to avoid running afoul of the rule about discussing moderation. Thanks for taking it to DMs rather than getting into it more here.

Even to this small extent in this thread, it's easy to see how quickly that can derail a topic to debating a specific incident or action that was taken, which is not the point of this or any other forum thread. If you or anyone else believes a CM overstepped with an action, you are more than welcome to report their post or profile to ensure that's reviewed outside their purview.

Not really sadly, but just incase the details because it is in regards to a moderator I'll DM you, because I don't want to be banned for explaining what a moderator did... again needs to be loosened up because I think more users would like to know how to deal with situations that don't fall perfectly to the in place protocols.

Thanks for the feedback BigBoy777jjs​, we agree and are on the same page. Frustration, disagreement, and criticism are all welcome and important parts of providing feedback. I think if you take a look down the front page of virtually any game board here, you'll see plenty of that going on.

The rules in place are there for the instances where that turns from frustration to abuse, whether towards any fellow forum-goers, employees, or individuals in general. As a note to your comment:

- keep in mind that while you may be playing a game that's rated T, M, or the equivalent PEGI ratings, the forums may be viewed and used by players of all ages, so our rules here were created with that in mind as well.

As you said however, there's zero issue with feedback and views being expressed, however negative, as long as it's done in a respectful manner. The goal here is for us to be able to make sure your feedback is passed along to the relevant game teams, and knowing you're frustrated with game mechanics and/or disagree with decisions that were made is some of the most useful feedback we can pass along. 

What doesn't get passed along would be posts simply berating and abusing the devs or insulting individuals - it may be a way of expressing frustration, but it's not at all constructive. We aren't always able to respond to every post or thread, but aside from those removed for actual rule violations, the feedback being expressed - positive and negative alike - is absolutely heard and passed along.

We are all playing a game that is designed for a certain age group, and as a gaming community, we are naturally going to have different opinions, frustrations and suggestions.

I believe players should be able to express their views openly and respectfully without being punished simply for speaking their minds. Constructive criticism and honest feedback are important, especially when the community is highlighting problems or suggesting ways to improve the game.

Of course, there should be boundaries when it comes to threats, abuse or genuinely offensive behaviour, but players should still be allowed to express frustration, disagree and give their honest opinions without fearing unnecessary punishment.

At the end of the day, the community should feel that our voices and feedback are being heard.

The stated "regular channels" are purely to appeal if your account has been banned due to a moderation action. They are not to question why a thread/post was moderated or removed or provide feedback on moderation actions as they have no insight to those decisions. The "appropriate channels" linked in that particular rule goes to our Terms of Service team via an appeal, not to regular live chat or support. That would be why live support is saying they do not deal with forum matters, that is accurate.

In those cases, you'd need to DM a Community Manager if you're looking for additional clarity about moderation happening in a thread you're involved with. Reason being, those types of conversations always derail a thread and are not on topic. Having a post moderated or removed and then derailing the thread demanding to know why or telling them not to do it again is not appropriate - if a post is removed, you'll receive a DM from whichever CM removed it, and you're welcome to message back and follow up with them directly. If you have the direct link to your post it will show it was rejected, and you're also welcome to report that directly to have it reviewed again.

If you're trying to provide feedback about a CM or a response you've been provided, you can also always report the CM's post, message, or their profile page and it'll go up to be reviewed (not by the CM) separately as well.

How about the zero tolerance to even mentioning what a forum moderator does? Not blasting, not harassing... just mentioning that a moderator deleted/moved/marked as solved is a bannable offense (or asking them not to).

I asked just for this to be loosened up on on and off about a year ago because, it comes up in conversation without even thinking/remembering it is a bannable offense...

And before you mention to just "to go through the regular channels" I have and it isn't a valid method to suggest or provide feedback to (ticket gets closed and live chat says they do not deal with forum matters).

Was there a particular forum guideline that you feel is restricting you from being able to provide feedback or participate in the discussions that take place here?

We already allow for all types of feedback, positive and negative both. The guidelines are here to make sure the discussions stay productive - we're not going to be allowing people to threaten or be abusive towards each other, for example. We don't need to see what would happen as an experiment, we're all very familiar with the internet and what tends to take place in spaces that are completely unmoderated. :)
