Are EA customers protected?

If an EA  staff tried to delete your EA account would you be notified by email?

what protections are in place to protect your account from EA rogue staff from deleting your Account because they dont like you because you may have said something to them they diden't like? I am giving random scenario.

I heard stories on reddit of players EA accounts randomly being deleted when they never made such request.

  • Hello ButCracker9649,

EA staff cannot simply delete an account without permission/ a request of the owner - if someone did, they would be liable for disciplinary actions and the account would be restored. This scenario is highly unlikely.

An account can be restored after deletion, as explained here. If someone's account got deleted without their permission, it is more likely that they got hacked or someone close to them had access to the account and created the deletion request. Or simply, the login data was forgotten or changed by a hacker, making it seem like the account was deleted. In all these cases, as long as the original account details are not forgotten, it should be possible to restore the account.

If a deletion request was accidentally issued. Does Logging into your EA account usually cancel this request? Or just changing your password?

  • So I have attempted to get my account back for 3 days now. I have asked nicely I have asked not so nicely. With no results even though I have shown that the circle logic of the system this company has in place is not helpful in anyway. So here is the breakdown. I attempted to get into an old account. Having the ID and password written down and saved so when I want to get back in I could. I attempted to sign in to origin. The company who had it before EA. I place my info in the EA log in after adding the app because origin no longer works. No problem right? Nope met with an error my account is deactivated. OK no problem start process to get it back however I find that i have to get into am email account linked. Well it has been over 4 years I do not have the email written down. So I ask what the account associated with said account. According to the help bot. They cannot give out account information. So I attempted to prove my account but the only acceptable answer i do not have. So I go another way start looking at old emails and determining if any other accounts have a account. Found one but I do not know if it is linked. So I ask. Again met with cannot give out information. Then I attempted to get back my email account. Can't get that back either same issues. But at least for this account on EA I have login information. So I attempted to ask questions to several bots. I will call them bots until proved otherwise due to the lack of understanding and lack of logic. So I ask why can't I get information? I don't have the email. OK so what is the email? We can't tell you. So I can't get information on a account I have login information because when EA bought origin they implemented a policy that auto disables accounts that have not logged in. OK but the only way to get back in to the account is to know the email. If unable to know the email. I am unable to get the information. Do you see the problem? Because I am failing to see how i have the login information but can't get the email associated to attempt to see if that is the correct email. But if asked I can't get the information so I am again at the same point I was before just pissed off now. So how do I get my account back and access to the games I bought? Please explain how this makes any sense. The company disables accounts for not logging in but when attempting to get in to the account has to verify the email but if unsure about the email will not give it out. Making it impossible to get access to an account through no fault of the user.

  • Oh I love this thank you for clarifying that the only way for an account to be deactivated and inaccessible is by request of the user. So funny story i have attempted to get into an account and post several messages and talk to support. But still unable to get into my account. So seeing as I did not give permission to deactivate my account I would like it restored due to the fact that you guys cannot simply deactivate an account without permission. Also my post got deleted shocker. You don't like it when the truth is posted. That you will auto deactivate then demand the user get it back then. When asking a simple question about the account the company will not give information because its a "security issue." So what is it you can't delete or deactivate an account without permission or you have an automatic deactivated  policy? Really want to know at this point.

  • Short answer is yes they will. Then when you try to get back in they will not help you. I have attempted several times to get my account back and will just keep posting as much as possible  to hopefully find a solution to a problem that EA like to do. Is if an account is not used in a time frame the account will be deactivated and deleted. The only way to get it back is to get into the email associated with the account but if all you know is ID and password that would normally work will not because EA had deactivated and deleted your account. If you cannot access the email and request to know what email is linked you are met with we cannot. So what do you do to get back an account that has been deactivated and deleted. But according to the screen shot EA does not do this without permission? Weird I don't remember asking for my account to be deactivated or deleted so what do I do to get my account back?

Deactivation and deletion are two different things - an account can only be deleted by you with the help of Support. However, an account automatically becomes deactivated after a long time of inactivity. In order to reactivate the account you simply have to reset the passport of the account.

  • the account was auto deactivated. due to inactivity. which if i was able to use the account prior to now that would have been great. but when i get on to play games. then am met with confirm identity. after years. despite having the proper log in information. cannot get on my account without confirming my account. but in order to confirm i have to remember the email. and when i do say multiple emails i have used cant get a confirmation of what email and the only way to get anything is to confirm my identity. making it a giant circle of madness. i cant get any information without information but when i give the proper information no confirmation making it useless to give information when the account is not accessible. this is the stupidest thing i have ever done I can rebuild an engine easier then get 1 freaking confirmation so i can figure out how to get my account back!

  • so please tell me how to get any confirmation with this stupid company! i was so much happier with origin! At least they cared enough to give some information.

  • Look my argument is nothing but this. I have an account with the proper login credentials. But the current **bleep** company will not let me into it. That is my issue. They caused the problem and are unwilling to fix it. I have proved more information on the account I have all sort of information but the 1 thing they are asking for i don't know. I spent 20 minutes listing off all the games and when I bought them and all. I know that. But they will not tell me the email address!!! WTF! I have all the proof and more but nope one simple whats the email is apparently the end all be all of the account! I have the user name and the password All the maes I bought i mean how would I know that other then owning it! This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen! It's the screen in harry potter where the professor is asking harry his name and he goes you have known me for years. No excuses "Potter" staying his name! How Harris it to tell me an email!
