One social engineering tactic is that they start by offering what seems to be helpful gaming advice or encourage what appears to be kind friendship to another player whilst playing , so as to build up their trust, but at the same time to encourage them to let their defences down. Once they gain their trust, they then start to ask more and more questions that will personally identify them, and pose security risks. Gamers need to keep being cautious of what they reveal about themselves when in the midst of gaming or just chatting, when they may not be as alert as normal to being security safe and what is being asked.
