Solved

how do i unlink an account email without having the email address anymore?

i have an xbox account with an old email and i cant even log in because that email no longer exists and when i got to try and reset it it says its already linked in this lifetime. any help or nah?

  • Hi reekinnn,

Thanks for sharing that you've run into that error message. Could you help clarify a few things, please?

    • Did you log into your EA account settings and open the Connected Accounts tab to remove a Gamertag from the EA account with the older email address?
    • Did you try to link your Xbox gamertag to a new EA email address by opening an EA game on your Xbox

This should help clear things up, as this is quite a specific error message:

it says its already linked in this lifetime.

This error message only appears when you're trying to link an account to an EA account that already has one of those types of accounts linked in the past. For example, if the EA account with that email address had an Xbox gamertag linked in the past, it can't have a new one linked, even if the older Gamertag has since been removed. Our EA help guide here shares a bit more on that:

When you link accounts, it creates a lifetime link to protect you from malicious activity and help prevent performance issues in your games.

You can unlink your platform accounts from your EA Account if you want to link them to a different EA Account, as long as that EA Account has never had the same account type linked to it before in its lifetime.

That means if you unlink an Xbox gamertag from your EA Account, you can’t link a different Xbox gamertag to it in the future.

    Thanks,

    Hi reekinnn

It's been a bit since this thread was last active. I hope that means you were able to recover the account and update the account information to unlink the console. 😊 I'll mark it as the solution as a result. It'll help others with similar issues find solutions quickly.

I'll close this thread out here but if something changes or new questions come up, please don't hesitate to start a fresh thread or pop into an existing live one. 😄

    Happy Gaming o/
