Multiple EA accounts

Is it okay to have multiple EA accounts and, if so, how would it work? I would like to make another account so I can change the language to the language I'm trying to learn. Sims 4 is free to get, so I wanted to download it on a new account and install it with the language I want to learn. How would it work if both accounts are used on the same user? Would they share the data or would it break things? Should I make another computer user to do this?

  • Cyan148  It's technically against EA's terms of service for one person to have multiple accounts, although I don't know that it's enforced much.  But you don't need two accounts for this.  You can change the language for Sims 4 within the EA App, under Manage > View properties.  When you select a new language, the game should start repairing, really just downloading the new language string files.  If the repair doesn't start on its own, you can do so manually.

Most languages name the user folder "The Sims 4," but four of them (Spanish, French, German, and Dutch) have localized names, e.g. "Los Sims 4" for Spanish.  If you're using one of these languages, your saves and other user data won't overlap with the other language.  You'd need to copy your saves, Tray files, etc. back and forth to be able to use them in the other language.

If neither language has a localized name for the user folder, then all the files will be in the same place.  Some subfolders will have localized names too, but that typically doesn't matter, and you can always copy around files if you decide it's necessary.

Either way though, names of some places and sims will be localized and will NOT change within a given save even if you load that save in a new language.  If this bothers you, keep your saves separate.  It's fine to have saves from multiple languages in the same folder, or Tray files, or any other user files.  You won't break the game in any way.

  • In the past I tried the route to change the language in the way you said, however for me the only language option I have is english.

  • Cyan148  Please check again now just to be sure.  The option to change the language wasn't present until relatively recently.

If you can't change the language at all, that means you have the English-only version, which in turn is tied to your region.  So creating a new account in the same region would still give you this version.  But Steam offers the global version, if you're willing to switch over.  You'd link your Steam and EA accounts, uninstall Sims 4 through the EA App, install it through Steam, and then download your packs (but NOT a second copy of the base game) through the EA App, under Sims 4 > Manage > View properties.  The downside is you'd need to run both apps while playing.

That seems like quite a hassle. I looked up the EA multiple accounts thing and it says it's only not allowed if you're creating a 2nd account to bypass a ban. I'm not, and afaik I've done nothing to warrant an account ban. So by that logic would it be okay if I had a 2nd account?
