Refund me

I want a refund. Your refund policies are crazy yu just want to take our money. How can I know in 24 hours if I want the game/dlc or not the EU law states that I can request a refund within 30 days so why not do that?

  • Obligatory "I am not a Lawyer"

Per EU Law (Statutory rights can differ per country, so this is directly from the EU) it's stated that you have the right to a 14-day cooling off period, not 30. (More here: https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/shopping/guarantees-returns/index_en.htm)

This is applicable to EA's content per the Terms of Sale which mentions under Section 8: Refunds and Cancellation:

European Economic Area except Germany ("EEA"), United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan and Republic of Korea

Right of Withdrawal: cancellation and refund within 14 days from date of purchase or EA Play membership.

Important: If you download content or use any EA Play membership benefit within 14 days, you will lose your right of withdrawal. If you are eligible for a refund, we will refund you the cost of the game within 14 days from the date of claim. Your statutory rights are not affected. Contact us at EA Help (select your game, PC platform, Orders and Request a Refund). You may use this template: [Template hidden to keeping this response more relevant]

Games may also be eligible for refunds under the Great Games Guarantee as displayed on the Review Order page and in the purchase confirmation email.

So you have the right to refund it for 14 days, unless you have started downloading the product that you have purchased.
From the point you made a purchase, you accepted the Terms of Sale, therefore you would waive the right to this 14 day cancellation if you were to download it.

From that point on it would be refundable per the Great Games Guarantee, which is as follows:

*You may return eligible EA full game downloads (PC or Mac) ** and participating third party titles purchased on the EA app for Windows and Mac for a full refund. Refund requests can be made within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within fourteen days from your date of purchase, or within fourteen days from the game's release date if you pre-ordered, whichever comes first. And if you purchase a new EA game within the first 30 days of its release date and can't play it due to technical reasons within EA's control, you can request a refund within 72 hours after you first launch the game instead of 24.

    And

Consumers in some jurisdictions may have additional rights to remedies, including refunds, if a game doesn’t work. The Great Game Guarantee is in addition to any consumer warranty and statutory cancellation rights (e.g. right of withdrawal) you may have.

So depending on your Statutory cancellation rights, assuming they cannot be waived by you, you might be able to refund it after downloading the content within 14 days, though that would be more in-depth and not something I'd be able to see.
Technically they do abide by that guarantee, though if people do not read the Terms they agree with, then they would miss that they would waive their rights to do so.

Not that I agree with these practices myself, personally I would like to see it be a bit more lenient, like Steam.
But they've made up their ways to do it like this at this moment in time, so I suppose there isn't that much to do.

Hopefully this clears the situation up a bit.
