Saudi Arabia EA acquisition?

Surprised that since the news broke yesterday no one here has mentioned it, is EA banning it? I'm an avid Sims 4 player and was shocked to learn that the Saudi Arabia government (along with two other investment groups) is poised to acquire and privatize EA as soon as next week. Is anyone else concerned about what this could mean for the game?? Specifically cc, which I could see being banned from the game to force players to buy packs instead.

Thoughts?

Whatever would remain of Maxis would just be a hollow shell though, since I imagine especially of the sims team a lot of staff would resign based on principle due to the change of ownership and plenty fired. And they would take a lot of knowledge with them of how to make this very particular kind of game.

And I'd wish them luck trying to get a new sims game to succeed that won't even allow same sex romance. The competition would bury them alive. Let's face it, the sims has no future unless Maxis goes independent, otherwise it will be up to successor games to fill it's shoes.

Now if another big publisher is smart, they'd use the opportunity to gather up plenty of leaving Maxis staff to put to work on making such a successor game and claim the monopoly on such games that EA will now lose.

In the case of "Maxis going independent" if EA still owns The Sims IP, this will mean at least 5 years of development starting from scratch (From example Life By You development started in 2019) in order to get a shell of game like inZOI. Meaning no game before 2031.

Microsoft Xbox, NetEase, Tencent and Sony, these big publishers are as greedy as EA. Since Bethesda is owned by Microsoft, it became almost as bad as BioWare.

The Sims won't be better or safe there. European companies would be a better solution but they aren't as rich (EU company annual revenues less than $3 billion vs over $10 billion for US/China).

Note : Keep in mind The Sims FreePlay is developed by The Firemonkeys studios/EA Mobile, The Sims isn't only about Maxis.

This. Everybody talks about Sims 5 like it's going to suddenly be there and be perfect and answer everyone's wishes for the game. They forget that Sims 4 was released without pools, toddlers, and we still don't have basics like cars and pool tables. Not only we will wait for Sims 5 basegame but also for all the other expansions that make the game fun like occults, seasons, university, vacations, businesses, and everything else.

This gives me some real gamer anxiety. The most important thing to me is that no matter what happenes, the Sims community stays together. Even if the new owners shutter the game, we can still play offline. We can still be there for each other, and that the talented mod and cc creators keep doing what they do.

EA is supposedly/possibly selling out to PIF, if you don’t know what that is; it is the very people who cover up Saudi Arabia’s crimes and abuse of power….I’m very sad this is where EA is going while owning such an “inclusive” game…all that was for show. Caring for creators? Fake. Caring about inclusivity? Fake. Caring about what their fans say? Fake. Even Donald Trump’s son-in-law is in on it…what a joke.

EA wants you to believe that The Sims is the only life sim on the market, but there are others.  I've been playing with inZoi when EA does their live events and the graphics alone makes The Sims look like a joke.  You can also customize wall coverings, floors, rugs, furniture and not just with a handful of swatches -  you can change the color, the material, and pretty much everything.  It is still in development, but they've already got what EA would call three worlds and they were included in the purchase price.

Let me start this off by saying I know my words mean nothing to Ea and this will probably get erased but I have been purchasing every sims pack since the sims 1 complete collection I have been a fan of this franchise for as long as I remember. But if Ea gets bought out by these human rights abusers I will no longer support the franchise nor buy anything from the company ever again.
