Unable to gain access to EA account

Hey, All!

Edit: PROBLEM WAS NOT SOLVED! Please don’t refer to this post for help if you’re in the same boat!

I used to be an avid Sims player when I was younger! I bought it on Orgin and used my mom’s email. I stopped playing after HS.

Long story short- I never changed my mother’s email and now I cannot get into the account. *snip*

Support was a joke! I haven’t logged in in years! How would I know the answer to these questions?

I will be reaching out to the BBB! I encourage others to do the same. EA needs better support. We spend too much money.

The advisor wouldn’t even tell me how to submit a complaint! (Pics of chat included)

  • Hi 005jackson

Account security is extremely important to us, and we have strict policies in place to protect our players’ information.

For privacy and security reasons, our support team isn't able to change account information or grant account access unless they can verify the request is coming from the account owner. This ensures that accounts are not accessed or changed without the owner’s permission. It helps prevent fraud or account theft, and we take these matters seriously!

Our guide, 'How to create an EA Account' explains how we verify account ownership:

Use a secure email address you’ll always have access to and check often, like Yahoo or Gmail, instead of one from school or work. You’ll use your email address to recover your account if you ever need to, and we'll use this email address to verify your EA Account.

Based on what you’ve shared, it sounds like the EA account was set up with your mother’s email. This means she is the EA account owner. Our support team can work with her directly to help her recover the account, but only with her as the EA account owner. It's also important to know that Support isn't able to transfer ownership or access to an account from one person to another. This is because EA’s Terms of Service (Section 2. License) explains that EA accounts and services are non-transferable and for personal use only. I know this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for, but these policies are in place to protect everyone’s accounts. We must follow these guidelines to keep all accounts secure.

For your needs, I recommend the following:

    1. If you meet the age requirements, I recommend creating a new EA account for your personal use.
    2. If you don't meet the age requirements, a parent/guardian can set you up with a new child EA account. When you come of age, the system will prompt you to enter your own email address, making you the owner of the EA account at that stage.

Thank you, but this wasn’t helpful. I will still be submitting a complaint. As I stated earlier, *snip* so it’s kinda impossible for EA to work with her. I’ll find a way around it, eventually. Creating a new account is NOT an option for me. I do NOT have the financial means to repurchase everything. The funny thing is… I never signed up for EA or anything… I’m one of the orgin users who got forced into switching or losing all my games. This is never what I wanted. At this point the account is almost a decade old. Thank you though!

    *snip*

    Hi 005jackson

I understand how difficult and frustrating this must be, especially given everything you’ve shared. I wish there was more we could do, but there isn’t a way around it. EA cannot grant access to an EA account without verifying ownership, no matter the circumstances, and from what you’ve shared, you’re not the EA account owner.

I’m really sorry, but aside from what I've already suggested, there's nothing else I can add to help you, so I'll close this thread here.

    Thank you,

    EA_Lanna
