Armor dye visual bug
- Platform - PS5
- PSN/Gamertag/Steam/EA Id. Sanngrithr (PSN/EA)
- Please provide your teammates' ID if possible. n/a
- Where in the gameworld did the issue occur? Minato, any map
- If you were fighting a Kemono, which was it? Mighty and Volatile Deathstalker, Fervid Crazecomb, Mighty Sapscourge, Mighty Cobalt Lavaback, others
- If you weren't fighting a Kemono, what were you doing when the issue occurred? Minato activities
- When did this happen? 3/2/23
- How often does the bug occur? First time I have ever seen it was 3/2/23, last night, but that was also the first time I ever wore this armor set combination
- What happens when the bug occurs? The armor pieces become desaturated and textured, as if worn out by combat, but not all pieces, and not all at the same time. Returning to dye them again can slightly tint the desaturated state, but not return it to the original state. Image 01 shows the original state. Image 02 after 1 hunt - the gloves and waist have gone desaturated, but not the top. Image 03 - after 2-3 hunts, not everything is desaturated. I was unable to revert it back to the original state. Image 03 looks ok, if armor washed out after fights is what you are going for, but I believe this is a bug due to how image 02 has only two pieces happening to.
- What should be happening instead? I believe armor should remain as in image 01. No other pieces of gear in the game have ever done this for me, unless this is new to the update.
- Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Wear and dye the armor pieces I included in the screenshot and go on one hunt, solo or coop - doesn't matter. The first hunt caused the effects as in image 02. The second or third hunt caused the effects as in image 03. This was not able to be redone and reverted to the state of image 01 until I restarted the game, and then it immediately happens again.
Edit: Armor getting muddy on a hunt and becoming desaturated appears to be a feature, not a bug, as it happens now on another cladding I am wearing. I am not sure why I did not notice this in the early game and I am only noticing this effect in late game Chapter 5. If it is a feature, I don't mind it. It is realistic and pretty neat, however, the state reached in image 02 should never happen, where half of the armor is clean and the rest is dirty. It does, however, mean on a hunt that you cannot see your dyed armor as you dyed it. A curious thing is that I always see other people's armor as clean at the end of hunts in the Final Blow cinematic and running around afterwards, which is why I thought this was a bug. Also, there is no way to clean it, except to remove and re-equip it when back in town, or to restart the game. Not really sure how I feel about it, if it is not applied consistently.
