Solved

It says you don't have permission It says you don't have permission

I made a purchase on Steam on December 23rd, and tried to run it yesterday, but a message saying that I don't have permission to use the EA app came out and it couldn't run.
Not just Unravel, Unravel Two has the same problem.

I tried all methods, such as uninstalling and reinstalling the EA app, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, uninstalling Steam and reinstalling, and reinstalling after uninstalling everything.

Even in the same EA game, games like A WAY OUT or APEX Legend run normally, but only the Unravel series shows an error like that.

Hey everyone, wanted to jump in and provide some info on this. The error message You don't have permission typically only relates to a few things.

    • Your EA account does not own the game - You had a trial, or another user downloaded it from their account on your PC
    • You have an outdated trial, beta, or game loaded into your registry that needs to be removed
    • You were on EA Play and no longer have that subscription active
    • Your account has a ban on it in which case you would probably already know this one
    • Windows needs permission when you launched the game that is asking for access and you need to confirm access

If you have not, run through the following and see if this helps

    • Uninstall the EA App
    • Press the Windows key + R, go into the file explorer, type in %temp%, and hit Enter.
    • Delete everything it allows you to delete.
    • Then in the same run box, type, %programdata%, and hit Enter.
    • Delete everything in the Origin folder except the local content.
    • Reboot the PC

I would also use a registry cleaner to do some HDD cleanup so it removes all older files. Then log in with the account that has a purchased copy of the game in your library. Download the game and when you launch it, swap back to your desktop and make sure Windows is not asking for permission.

Hi @yurinlciel to check have you already linked your EA and Steam accounts together? If so, can you confirm you are signed into the correctly linked accounts in both clients?

  • @EA_일륨 Steam and EA accounts are properly linked.

Just in case, I disconnected the account and re-linked it again, and after re-linking, it was confirmed that A WAY OUT worked well without any problems.

A message appears saying that only the Unravel series requires permission.

Hi @yurinlciel Can you try to put your device in a Clean Boot then launch the game? If this continues would it be possible to get the full message it is displaying?

Also, can we get the following information as this may be tied to an issue we've similar reports of?

    • EA app Error Report ID,
    • which game(s) experience this issue
    • Date/Time when it first happened
    • which launcher gives the error when launching the game (Steam or Epic etc.)
  • @EA_IlliumI've tried doing a clean boot, but still get the same message.

    You don't have access

This title may have been downloaded to your device by another user who owns the game.
Log in to a different account or restart the app to try again.

  • Please help us about the situation, i also have the same problem which my game doesn't lunch..

  • It sounds like there may be an issue with the installation or permissions for the Unravel games on your computer. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for the Unravel games. You can find the system requirements on the Steam store page for each game.

    2. Make sure that your graphics card drivers are up to date. You can usually download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website.

    3. Verify the game files in Steam. To do this, right-click on the game in your Steam library, select "Properties", go to the "Local Files" tab, and click "Verify Integrity of Game Files". This will check for any missing or corrupted files and replace them.

    4. Try running the game as an administrator. Right-click on the game icon or shortcut, select "Properties", go to the "Compatibility" tab, and check the box next to "Run this program as an administrator".

    5. Disable any antivirus or firewall software temporarily to see if it is blocking the game from running.

    6. If none of the above steps work, you can try contacting Steam support or the game developer's support team for further assistance. They may have additional suggestions or be able to provide a solution to the issue.
