It takes two - Split screen lag issues and pirates ahoy octopus disconnect bug

There are some split screen lag issues that is manageable as we usually sometimes focus on our own screen which usually runs smooth on both ends. Which is not too bad, but we hope it could be smoother.

Main problem in finishing the game now through the friend pass is that every time we go through the octopus boss battle, we disconnect. At first we thought it was just a coincidence, but it already happened 4 times. Has anyone experienced and found a fix for this?

Hope EA fixes these issues soon.

  • Hey, I've checked other threads & I'm aware others have come across this issue but was unable to find an answer which is why I'm making a new one.

So, at the chapter "Pirates Ahoy" at the boss fight, literally half life left when exploding duckies appear it instantly starts lagging & we die, the game then immediately kicks me from the host.

I'm playing on PC (UK), as is the host (Norway). Our PC specs are well above the recommended requirements for this game. I've got more than 1TB of free space

I've turned my settings to lowest possible, I've deleted my Origin Cache & I've restarted PC multiple times. Also I'm connected to LAN. The game has run fine before & only bugs at this specific moment.

We're both connected through Steam. Host has already played the game with others in Norway & not had this issue before.

    Please could you help?

  • Hello! I have an issue at the Ships Ahoy Chapter. First of all, the octopus part starts to be out of sync after a while (my friend sees somenthing different on their screen)... and then out of nowhere the game crashes for the person who owns it. We already struggled to get through the first phase with a lot of lag, connection or something else we don't know. We tried multiple things: restart computers, clear caches, Ethernet internet instead of wifi and setting all display settings to low and 30fps. Me and my friend are both players from Brazil.

  • On Pirates ahoy roses room chapter online co-op I have been having issues with the ship not being in the same place or even facing the same direction for each player which practically makes it impossible to beat since you both control one ship please let me know if there is any fix to this.

  • Every time me and my friend try to play ITT Pirate's Ahoy section we end up with a severe desync where I'll be facing one way and they could be facing anything up to 180° different to myself, it gets worse as the game progresses so at first it's only a couple inches different, but on the 3 ships section it usually ends up up to 90° out, then we go through tentacle alley, make it to big boss-topus (no, I will not apologise for that pun 😃 ) and while it starts fine, within about 5 - 10 seconds the desync is so severe that we're literally separated by about 180° and it makes it unplayable. This happens EVERY time, they have full game, I am friends pass. We also had trouble with Moon Babboon for a while in that every time we hit him with the third or fourth (only 1 hit left to go for that section) rocket we disconnected, did eventually get past that, of course. But we've tried me being host as well as them being host and this desync happens without fail, makes it impossible to get past the big octopus.

Hello EA i already found a fix for this problem, both of users the one that is playing with the game and the one with the friend pass, has to install something called PARSEC wich is a program who allows to play on local. This is the best solution that i found is quick the both users just have to pass the boss and thats it. They can carry on playing online with friend pass.

  • Thank you for your solution but I am kind of let down that this is a major problem with disconnections, lagging, and screen differences (On the same chapters of the game) and for this much time nobody is working on it.
