Just to be sure : you're aware that this a 2 player ONLY game. There is no solo mode. You NEED to have 2 controllers turned on, otherwise you can't start the game and the menu is grayed out. What you describe here seems like you don't have a second controller turned on.
Cause in your post, you never mention a second player.
The string of letters that comes to my mind right now is really too rude to put down here. I got my PS5 for Christmas and the game It Takes Two in early January. This is my 1st console, 1st console game (besides Astros) and my knowledge was really limited to NOOB status. I have worked with 3 different support analysts from EA who put me through all sorts of exercises, including setting my PS5 back to default factory settings, rebooting everything, rebuilding the data base ... I mean I could go on and on as I've spent hours on this, trying to get the game to launch. and not one person, NOT one, has mentioned to me, that both controllers must be on before the game will start 😳
Believe it or not, that was my ONLY problem.
