Re: Unravel won't start

1. DxDiag (77 KB one): Doesn't seem to have  a dedicated video card and is below specs because of that. The Intel chip it has is too old.

2. Has a Nvidia 555M and a chip. Unfortunately, neither is good enough for the game. You should update your drivers though

3. Also below specs

Thanks Crin! I wouldn't have been able to discover this without your help.

I've been checking the Unravel product website and product information again and again, and NOWHERE does it list any system requirements!!! Only after going through the Help pages (which anyone would only refer to after running into problems) did I find minimum system requirements.

That makes me wonder, how much is EA earning on people buying games they can't even play?

The system requirements are always listed in the Origin store at the game itself. Just scroll towards the button there's a tab called system requirements.

No @crinrict, system requirements are NOT listed in the Origin store page.

Go to http://www.unravelgame.com/, click the "Buy now" tab, click the "Buy Now (Origin)" button. This brings you to the Origin store. I've been looking up and down the page several times, and doing a Ctrl+F search, but there are NO system requirements on that page. You can check the attached screenshot for yourself.

The page that you are showing there, is not in the normal flow when you start at the Unravel site. When you start on the Unravel site, and click the "buy" link, you are immediately transferred to the shopping basket page.

Why would anybody, who is not familiar with the EA site layout, click on the product link when they just put the product in their shopping basket? The most logical expectation would be that this links back to the main Unravel site, the one that they just came from. That the link actually leads to ***ANOTHER*** Unravel page, is neither obvious, nor expected, nor logical.

Sorry for letting my frustration out on you 😞 You don't work for EA, and you are not to blame for their operations. Actually it's even more of a shame on EA that they let others (volunteers?) that are not associated with them, deal with the problems they cause...

I understand that you are frustrated that the game doesn't work but you are covered through the great game guarantee.

People can get their money back if the game doesn't run and even the period to that is over, game advisors are usually give you a refund it even after the period has expired if you can't run it.

Did you try to get a refund yet ?

    Hello @pbb72,

I´m sorry you´re having this issue. Just to clarify: EA does not 'let others (volunteers?) that are not associated with them, deal with the problems they cause...' - Heroes such as @crinrict are very active and especially dedicated members of our community who actually enjoy helping others. We like working together because both sides benefit from it in many aspects such as community interaction, knowledge, content creation and ideas.

I´m sorry that you find the way the minimum requirements are listed in Origin not optimal. They are consistently listed in the same way for all of our titles on Origin as well as here in AHQ. If you have any more questions around this please let us know and we´ll be happy to help.

@EA_Stefan, consistency only helps regular customers. Those who just buy a game once in a (long) while, require information that is easy to find. Having vital information not on the main product site, but on a unrelated product page that is not even linked to from the main product site, can not be considered easy to find.

There should have been a clear link on the main Unravel site, "For more details, check the Origin store page for Unravel", leading to the Origin store page.

I don't understand why your first deny, and then confirm, that heroes such as @crinrict, who are not affiliated with EA, provide the product support that EA should have been providing. On the "EA Answers HQ", it was not EA who helped me find out why Unravel didn't run.

Thanks, I have gotten my refund, which was quite easy and straightforward, for which EA can be recommended. For the rest, not so.

    Hello @pbb72,

I will forward your feedback about the positioning of the minimum requirements to our dev team who work on Origin and see if this may be something we could implement on the platform going forward. As for AHQ - The whole purpose of this platform is the idea of "players helping players". Hence you may very well, like in this case, receive steps and also solutions also from other players, Champions and Heroes. And I think that kind of dedication is pretty awesome 😉

Either way - I´m glad that your refund was successful and worked so quickly. I wish you a good weekend, even though it´s a bit in advance.

I also experience the same problem and I agree that the information is not easily found. I have a DX11 installed but it seems my graphics card is not good enough?

It´s a ATI Radeon HD 4550. How do I know if a new graphics card would solve the problem, like a Asus GeForce 210 1Gb LP?

    Here is my DxDiag.

What would be the cheapest possible graphics card to run this game?

    @franss3r

    In my opinion:

the lowest I can get myself to suggest would be a Nvidia Radeon R7 240 or a Nvidia GT 740. They are both too expensive for the speed that they provide and you will get a lot more for your money if you spend just a little more but they will do the job. Anything slower / cheaper would be a serious waste of money and you might as well buy a used graphics card.

Well, that´s too bad. I´ll have to claim my money back, then.
