Story progress reset

Did this happen when you helped a hunter who was earlier in the game? If so, did you save it? I think that could be the issue.

Also, did you loose the ability to play online after this happened?

I was well into Chapter 4 and I went to help a friend who is starting the game (both of us Xbox Series X) and not I am on shapter onw in my story progress. All my gear/materials are still there hut I can't access certain elements of the game or go to later chapters. I have also noticed I cannot join another person's game or create an online session. Is there anything thay can be done to fix this?

I am not playing the story again, and at this point, I'm ready to uninstall the game.
