downloaded origin and buy the game
Then come an email:
You haven't bought the game, you've bought an Origin Access subscription. You need to cancel your subscription and BUY the Sims 4 base game.

So if I understand it well, do I have to cancel my membership and pay the game right in the origin, right?
Thank you for your patience, I am new in this.

Is anyone able to point me in the direction of how I can actually purchase the game for Mac?? I had the exact same issue and made the same mistake - thought I had brought the game outright but since reading this forum I realised I accidentally just purchased an Origin access subscription ... I've now cancelled this but still can't figure out how to purchase the game itself for Mac?? Whenever I click on "buy game for Mac" I just get stuck in this loop with no actual "buy" or "download" button ? Any help on how I can actually buy the game itself would be amazing as I'm totally stumped!! I'm running a 2018 Macbook Pro 15 and my specs are definitely compatible so I know that's not the issue .... I just want to buy the game but absolutely cannot figure out how to do this!!
This is the screen it keeps taking me to when I click "buy for Mac" : https://imgur.com/a/3GcoBFK (sorry i'm new - was trying to figure out the best way to get my screenshot on here as it's too big to attach ...)

I downloaded sims 4 in origin by becoming a basic member. When I bought the game, it was available for both mac and windows and I downloaded it. Now my purchase does not open because it says that it is only available in windows. And when I press the button that says download game for mac, it does not give a download option and I cannot download it and it sends me back to the same page where it says the game is only available for windows only. Can you please look into my situation or help me download the game for mac?

I've merged your post into this on in the Mac forum as a lot of new Sims Mac players are experiencing the same issue. Please see my instructions in the opening post for how to properly download the game. It sounds like you have subscribed to Origin Access which isn't compatible on Mac. - 6 years ago
I bought the sims 4, but I cant play it because of "available on origin assess for windows only".
I have MacBook Pro 2019. please help me

I have a MacBook and I downloaded origin onto my computer and then purchased sims 4 but in my game library it comes up with a grey tint over it and won't let me download sims so that I can play it. when I click "Buy game for Mac" it takes me right to where it gives me the option to view trailer of visit library and I keep searching for ways to download it or play it and I keep going in circles on origin. Someone please help asap I just want to play sims!

Hiya,
I recently signed up to Origin to play Sims 4. I have downloaded Origin onto my Mac and when I attempt to play the game, it says that 'Available on Origin Access for Windows only. Buy game for Mac'.
When I click on the 'Buy game for Mac', it takes me back to the screen that says 'View in Library', when clicking on this, it takes me back to the above, so, this is going in loops.
Are you able to advise how I am able to play this game?

I've merged your posts into this thread. Please see the opening post on page 1 for instructions on how to purchase the game for Mac. Origin Access is a subscription service only available for Windows users. - Bluebellflora6 years agoHero+@hoelenalovessims
Please read the opening post on page one of this thread I have moved your post to. - 6 years ago
I already have the game downloaded and all but it won't launch.
Originally, it was played on a PC computer, but I had to move and now I have my Mac Laptop. I downloaded origin and all but it says that the game is purchased for a PC platform and I need to change it to a Mac platform?
Even though I go to the website there is no such button or anything that I can use to change the platform. What do I do?
- 6 years ago@guillemauxn Have you used Origin Access at any point with The Sims 4?
any help would be great, especially whilst in isolation
- 6 years ago@AriaMad2 I don't think so

You have already installed the game on your Mac? Or you have installed Origin on your Mac? - 6 years ago
I purchase Sims 4 from origin and bought the Basic subscription; downloaded the games plus add-one but my play button is still greyed out.

You both need to buy the game and not a subscription to Origin Access which is Windows only. Please see clear instructions in the opening post on the first page of this thread I have moved your posts to. - 6 years ago@Bluebellflora I already paid the $39.99 (around that price) for the game not just the subscription price. Once I downloaded the game my play button was greyed out.

How come the sims 4 says that it can run on macs but after adding it to the library it won't let me open it?

Do you get an option to uninstall when you click on the game in your games library? If so click on it then choose Revert game edition. Origin Access is not available for Mac users. Does your Mac support the current version of the game or do you need to also download the Legacy Edition? https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/The-Sims-4-Legacy-Edition-thread/m-p/8420037#M22694
