You haven't bought the game, you've bought an Origin Access subscription. You need to cancel your subscription and BUY the Sims 4 base game.

How come the sims 4 says that it can run on macs but after adding it to the library it won't let me open it?

Please see the opening post on page 1 for instructions on how to successfully buy and install the Mac version of the game. Origin Access is not available for Mac users.

@Bluebellflora Im doing what it says in page one, I'm not buying the origin membership, just the game but nothing happens when I click on buy
