EA Play Subscription Issue

So I understand that an EA Play subscription won’t transfer if it was purchased through EA and is tried to be used on Steam or vice versa. But then the issue is if you purchase your subscription through Steam you will be prevented from purchasing any simspoints because you are only allowed to buy them through the EA app. I totally know it’s possible I’m wrong and/or missing something but EA won’t recognize my EA Play subscription due to it being through Steam and The Sims is therefor not put into my EA library because it is played through the subscription. Does that mean those of us who use this method are completely S.O.L when it comes to buying SimsPoints?
