So EA Play for Steam and the EA app are considered to be separate subscriptions. If you buy a subscription on one, then it doesn't transfer to the other. So with your EA app subscription, you're right that Steam won't recognize it. I'm pretty sure that you'll have to download the games via the EA app now if you want to keep your EA app subscription. This feels like a scam, given that if you make the purchase with Steam it forces you to instsall EA app too. Totally ridiculous.
