how to unlink xbox account from deleted EA account

I just finished chatting with EA support. And my gamertag is connected to a "deleted EA account" the REP asked me to recover my deleted EA account to unlink my gamertag, how can there still be accounts linked to something that is supposed to be deleted? I do not remember what my deleted accounts email is. If the account was deleted by me, the owner, many years ago why is there such tight security in unlinking a gamertag? its obvious the account is NEVER going to be used again since its deleted. why is EA  making things so difficult. this whole thing would not be a problem if EA actually did what I asked them to do. Delete the account. once something is deleted nothing should be connected to it... I am here asking for help because I am not able to use Xbox gamepass to play EA games. Please advice.

Hey @VodarX we are not able to assist with account issues like this on AHQ.

The best thing to do is to follow the suggestions from our live support team.

  • @VodarX Try signing in to EA with every email address you have to see if it is maybe paired with a different account. If one is, and you can get signed in, then you can get help from support with unlinking it. That's your only hope. Reaching out to EA through your Xbox/Microsoft account won't get you anywhere either. It cannot be properly unlinked from the Xbox side, the linking is handled on EA's side.

"Contact live support" is the answer you'll see given around here, but if you can't recover and get access to the deleted account, you're stuck with it like it is. EA will not unlink them. The reps here can't do it and the live support team won't do it. I haven't found a single instance of where someone was able to unlink a deleted account. I'm in the same situation.

    hey,

There is a solution to this, I had the same problem. Fully explained in this thread verified by EA AHQ staff, online support is useless and cant help.

Basically you need to contact EA's Data Protection Officer (Links and explanation in thread linked above). From there they will verify you via Xbox live by sending you a message from their test machine with a verification code, you email it back and they then reset the account unlinking it from your Xbox account, allowing you free to add a new one.

Took me 2 days to get an email response then it was sorted within a couple of hours.
