Microsoft account linked to Deleted EA account

Making it impossible to access EA Play titles through Game Pass. I found multiple threads about it, all locked. 

I obviously have access to THIS EA account, which is the one I want linked. I can sign in with my Microsoft account to prove ownership of that. Those are the 2 accounts that matter, why do I have to prove ownership of a deleted account? Trying to sign in with my various email addresses for possibilities yields no other accounts. I don't recall ever having a different EA account. I also don't care about the deleted account. Delete it, unlink it. What do I have to do to get EA's help in unlinking a deleted account?

    Unfortunately, we can't help with account issues through Answers HQ. An advisor can take you through the account recovery process to gain access to the account. To do that, open a case here. Thanks!

    TLDR: Contact customer service! Their policy has indeed changed. They can now unlink your account from a dormant/deleted EA account!

    My Gamertag finally got unlinked from my dormant/deleted EA account! I struggled with this issue for a very long time like many of you. I just contacted customer service via chat and the agent could unlink my account without any issues. He only asked for confirmation a few times. After that my account was unlinked and I could link It to a new/different EA account. I didn't even had to verify that I'm the owner of the Gamertag like some of you have to via the DPO. Indeed it seems that their policy has changed! Great news!

    That is awesome news. Glad to see EA has turned this around, the previous policy was bizarre. It only took thousands of forum posts and a little press coverage to get the ball rolling.
