Will I have to repurchase EA Play for Steam?

As Steam is a separate platform you will need to purchase a separate subscription for EA Play on Steam, you can't buy EA Play on one platform and then use it or transfer to another platform nor connect anything between platforms, even if you use the same EA account.
You could just cancel your Origin EA Play and then sign up for EA Play on Steam.

If you're looking to keep progress and stats etc then I also don't think that is possible using different platforms.

Funny how it wouldn't transfer the stats if resubbing to steam after cancelling on origin, yet the stats will transfer if you buy the game outright on steam that you previously purchased in origin.

EA Play is the same across all platforms, so Origin, Steam, Xbox and Playstation. The only differences are 1. Some games are made for console only so the PC users won't have access to those and 2. Origin offers 2 subscriptions, EA Play and EA Play Pro.

EA Play Pro is The old EA Access Premiere which is what you have and is exclusive to Origin likely due to the fees for each platform. Microsoft, Sony and Valve all take around a 30% cut of sales etc.

This is also likely why there is a separate subscription for each platform, because if you were to buy one subscription from say Origin and use it for all platforms then Microsoft, Sony and Valve would get zero funds from that and wouldn't allow it on their platform if that were the case.

@CarbonCarl so uh... that's kinda stupid. i thought EA for once wanted to help out the gamers not need multiple platforms but i guess it was just another cash grab. i'm outta this whole ea situation for now, peace ya'll.
