- @Afrikanxl Iām 100% with you, EA/Codemasters just donāt give a *. Itās not going to happen sadly, bit if they donāt care than why should i care about their game
- @ha6hk3w77mwj What's crazy is, I don't even think EA is behind this decision. I also don't think many on the Codies team are either. I'm sure they have GT7 and other racing games in the office. I'm sure they have a PSVR2 in the office. I'm sure they have played GT7 in VR and have taken note on things. They see how fun things can be. My gut just tells me the person in charge has just been stubborn on the idea since it was first brought to their attention (a few years back?). Didn't think GT7 VR would be possible the way it is. And by the time they saw the feedback GT7 was getting, it was too late.. all the attention was on releasing F123 the way they planned it.
Imo, the person in charge should have had a team working on the feature as soon as they saw GT7 in action.. to have the feature ready after launch to be patched in, to help sell the game (when at full price) for a new wave of sales.
But I get the feeling they might want to use this as an opportunity to sell a *new* feature for F124. The problem is they think that will work on their audience. Imo it will not. It actually makes me resentful about this year's version and next years version. I WOULD BUY BOTH AT LAUNCH/Full price IF YOU JUST ADD IT! But by holding out and saving it for next year, it puts a bad taste in my mouth....makes me not even want to buy both at full price.
I really am disappointed. I do hope EA WRC's team is paying attention to all of this. I expect VR at launch for that game and will buy it at launch. - @Afrikanxl You might be right however they can still patch it in later, itās not to late. they could have out sourced psvr support to another studio (they did it before) what i find weird is that with F1 ā22 when asked about psvr2 support on a later stadium they said āat the moment there are no plans but never say neverā now with F1 ā23 itās just NO. As for WRC iām not a big rally fan so i most likely wonāt buy that either way
Look at how many people got into F1 off the back of drive to survive who previously had no interest in the sport. It was huge. Its up to EA and codemasters to create the buzz around their game, because in the VR space this would have been no1 in the charts for sure given its a fully fledged game and people are clearly wanting more of what GT7 offered on PSVR2
The fact this topic has been hovering around at the top of the forum for months now says to me people really want this feature and if you have the headset already its likely to be in your top three features for sure.
I really hope they see sense, reassess this decision and patch this in as soon as possible.
- @lufc100 I have the headset, pre orderd it the moment GT7 was announced as a vr title. F1 and GT7 were my nr.1 games, GT7 is awesome in vr and delivers on expectations. How cool would it be to drive a full season in F1 in VR. Having said that i donāt belive they will patch it in, i donāt even think they care much itās just about money en sales, GT7 in made with passion and not just the vr part, in F1 sadly the passion is lost a long time ago they do the bare minimum every year. A simple livery update a driver roster update and thatās it same engine sinds F1 ā15. So i donāt see any reason why they would invest in the game after release, they will proberly be busy with patching out the bugs for the first 6 months and after that any new feature will be put in F1 ā24

Guys no doubt PSVR2 would be great if properly implemented. But youāre looking at it from your perspective and bias.
Look at it from EAās point off view. Cash is king. Shareholders are gods. EA would have absolutely crunched the numbers and if it was a sure fire win! āItās in the gameā. But itās not. Itās as Simply as that. They are not the only developer. I just looked on PSstore for psvr2 and there are currently just 2 AAA games and both made by Sony Studios,
Itās all good to dream just donāt get carried away. They wonāt put it āin the gameā until they know for certain itās worth it. Like Iāve said big developers donāt like gambling trying to set trends they like to follow them.
Fortniteā¦ Sets a trend. Activision, Ubisoft and EA follow.PSVR2 Once it establishes a trend. The rest will follow.
@ScarDuck14I think you're making the implementation of VR harder/bigger than it would be for this particular game. This would not be a title built from the ground up for VR, or a stand alone product. A standalone VR F1 game would indeed be an investment/$$$, I agree.
It is basically a patch enabling a camera view that has a FOV (Field of View) of 110Ā°, then some coding for it to trigger right before a race starts. Then linking a free cam to the headtracking of the headset. OBVIOUSLY there is more work than just that, regarding developing it and optimization, but that's just the gist of it.
We don't need to push and turn individual buttons and nobs on the steering wheel. The controls would be the regular gamepad or wheel.
110Ā° FOV
locked 60fps reprojected to 120fps, or if possible native 90fps.
Again they already have their engine running at 120fps with a smaller FOV on the PS5... I'm positive with Foveated Rendering, they can get 60fps > 120fps... or native 90fps locked.
For this year's version I don't need to be in a showcase room where I walk around any of a car models or other fancy stuff. I just want to race in VR
I don't know if you have the PSVR2 and GT7 yourself, but here is a quick video of how they chose to implement it for now. Everything else is just the regular 2D menu like on a TV, until your race is about to start.

@AfrikanxlIāve not once said it will be hard.
Itās purely about bang for buck. If EA thought they would get enough bang it would be in the game. But Iām assuming their projections say next year they will get the band they want.
I go back to the only 2 AAA games currently on sale that support PSVR2 Are both Sony games.
Despite F1 gains in popularity in recent years. Itās still a niche sport. Majority people who buy this game are F1 fans who casually game. This game doesnāt sell anywhere near the numbers on PS as GT7. Let alone to those who have also bought PSVR2. EA will play the waiting game when they are convinced adding PSVR2 to the game will be worth doing. Currently they do not. EA earns billions every year. They donāt need to rush into anything. No matter how much we few want it.

As for WRC iām not a big rally fan so i most likely wonāt buy that either wayI don't think anything has changed. the 'never say never' type of comments referred to PSVR2 implementation coming in future games not during the F1 22 lifecycle. Also note there has been no official 'no' this year, just people speculating but I strongly suspect this just remains a possibility for future titles. Note that it's inherent for makers of annual titles to want a list of new feature that they can highlight with each new game, so if PSVR2 support isn't in F1 23 at launch then, to me, this makes it extremely unlikely that they'll add it post-launch. The only time major features have been added in this way that I'm aware of is where they'd be planned to be there at launch but had to be delayed. This was the case with cross-play for example.
- @ScarDuck14 You are 100% right that we are bias, how ever saying they only put it in the game if they know itās worth it isnāt realy the case. Look at F1 ā22 for exemple, putting super cars, clothes, tableās, couches and all that lifestyle crap in the game wasnāt realy worth it was it? Iām pretty sure porting vr cost less money and time than building the whole life part from scratch. Life nobody asked for and nobody wanted, atleast with vr they know people want it
