Re: Xbox Series X shuts off during F1 23 trial (EA Play) start menu

Update: I bought the game and the issues still happens.

I try to load the game and the Xbox shuts off within 20 seconds.

  • My Xbox shuts off within 20 seconds of trying to play F1 23 via the 5 hour trial with EA Play…I thought buying the game would fix the problem and it didn’t.

Anyone have input on that? Searching online and don’t see anyone else complaining of this. I can play other games currently without issue.

I’ve done the following: reset router, trying loading game in offline mode, delete and re install game, clear alternate MAC address, different HDMI cable, reset console while keeping games & apps, reset console completely deleting games and apps too.

  • Few days later I have the same issue and no contact from EA yet..

Ensure you have removed all traces (game and data, cloud) of the trial and F1 23 (game and data, cloud) and then try to download again?

Ensure you are running the latest XBox system software and that you are not opted into any Insider builds.

@SteveJackson Thanks for the reply. Since buying the game I have done a factory reset, so I no longer have the trial downloaded at all. Upon reinstalling the game I ran into the same issues, tried to delete all game data, and issue is still occurring.

My Xbox software is up to date and I’m not a part of insider.

I see you’ve tried with controller only as well.

Did you purchase Champions Edition or Standard Game? Champions Edition has dual entitlement so try the XB1 version?

Youve changed resolution and turned off HDR.

You’ve used the EA account you’ve signed in here with on the game and the XBox account link is showing fine when you login to EA?

@SteveJacksonI have only tried with controller (2 of them). I just now tried to start the game with a Logitech G923 but the same issue is happening.

i have the standard edition of the game optimized for series X/S

I’ve changed the resolution, disabled HDR, 4K, 120Hz.

The EA account I’m using to post this shows linked to my correct gamertag that I’m trying to play with on Xbox.

  • Is this bug recognized by EA, should I expect a fix for this issue or should I submit a refund? I see others playing on Xbox just fine, and I also play other games on this console just fine.

  • @SteveJackson still running into the same problem. The game can stay on the “press start button” screen upon loading up just fine. But as soon as I hit start and get to the EA license agreements it shuts down shortly after.

Have you tried contacting EA Help?

@SteveJackson I have. They directed me to an Xbox link for troubleshooting (already did everything they suggest last weekend) and told them it didn’t work. They said they are “investigating”, I’ll probably wait till the next update on Monday then will request a refund…sucks I’d prefer to just play the game

Yes I think you’ve investigated most common issues. Difficult to understand why in your instance it’s failed to work. With consoles there are in fact less variables so it’s quite mystifying.

@SteveJackson I’m thinking it’s some sort of verification in the back end. I can chill on the page with Hamilton, Leclerc and Lando saying “press start menu” without issue. But as soon as I hit start, it’s like 10 seconds till shut down. Most of the time it shuts down before I can accept the first license agreement. Only 1 time I made it as far as the third which I think was adjusting gamma.
  • @CM_TGK i dont see this issue in the thread where the below is listed:

    🚧 INVESTIGATING 🚧

    AWAITING PATCH

    RESOLVED

    CLOSED

Summary: I currently play F1 22 on Xbox series X just fine. F1 23 trial would cause system shutdown upon pressing start menu to continue. Figured buying the game would fix the issue and it did not.  I am 1 week away from the refund period. Any insight?

  • I got a different Xbox and the game loads up. I still believe the issue to be game related as every other game and app worked.
